Could Batman's New Vehicle In TDKR Be A Helicopter?

The Batmobile, The Batpod..the Batcopter? The Caped Crusader could be taking to the skies in The Dark Knight Rises..

The following Tweet comes from a professional sound recordist/Boom operator that (appears) to have been working on the movie..

'The Dark Knight Rises': Inside Info, they are Building 2 Attack Helicopters in the same design as the Bat Mobile from The Dark Knight! BOOM

I'm trying to find out a bit more about this but for now take it as a rumor. If Batman's latest vehicle was to be some kind of attack copter how would you feel about it?

If it's a small two passenger style mini assault copter, that'd be badass!

the Batcopter could be cool if it a mix like the tumbler/batpod

Especially built in the armored style of the tumbler.

That'd be interesting to see. I'd prefer the Batwing or something, but I'm fine with a Batcopter.

I never expected Nolan to add it to his final chapter, but it's obviously he trying to go out with a bang.

Always imagined that it would have to be military copter.

It'd have to be heavily armoured, tumbler style, and have a small body with large heavy duty propellers. Perhaps have the armour give off a vague bat shape, as a nod to the batwing. But i hope they aren't just throwing it into the film for the sake of having a new vehicle, the bat-pod made sense since it was just a quick get away vehicle, but I don't understand how an aerial vehicle would fit into a film with Bane and Catwoman.
I hope Chris Nolan know's what he's doing (I'm going to eat these words in July 2012 ;P)

Hmm. I wonder how long this "boom operator" is going to have a job after this (if it's true). Say... a day, tops?

Well, I love the look of the Batwing, but I have to admit, a helicopter would be a lot more practical for an urban superhero like Batman. I just hope they keep its use down to a minimum... a Bat-Copter could be a pretty silly thing if used too much.

@THEDARKKNlGHT1939: The animated series isn't exactly the most realistic depiction of Batman or his equipment. The Batwing is a jet (with vertical take-off and landing capability, maybe, but a jet nonetheless), and the fact is, jets are loud. Helicopters are loud, too, but they're far more common to hear in a big city than a fighter jet. So it would be somewhat less conspicuous.

It wouldn't make sense to have Batman stealthily flying around in a 30 feet gunship or an Apache.

Sto0pidpenguinpro - 6/30/2011, 3:26 PM
It WOULD make sense. In the comics, Batman had all of these vehicles and gadgets. Nolan has used a different vehicle every movie so far, Batman Begins - "Batmobile", The Dark Knight - "Batcycle" Batpod. It just makes logical sense in the pattern that Nolan is going in to have an air vehicle, but one that is small and fast.

I still want to see a new Batmobile, though. A Batman movie isn't a Batman movie without one, but hey, I trust Nolan.

This is very possible. Remember guys, first film was a tank. 2nd film was a motorcycle type of vehicle.

A chopper seems logical at this point.

At least it is something different. The old films from the 90's, the batmobile was a bit overplayed i think. I'm kinda happy the batmobile is being given a rest in the Nolan bat-films.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939- Yeah the batwing is hella badass. This could be a...pre-batwing perhaps? ;D

The Tumbler was designed for the military. So, I am not so sure that having helicopters using a military or tumbler design necessarily implies that it must be a Batcopter. Could just be a military design.
Perhaps the motorcycle has a fold-away propeller ;)
I guess a chopper would be somewhat realistic.

Chicks dig the chopper...

It's more likely that the choppers are going to be used to track Batman down. Remember that he's being hunted now? I don't think Nolan would use the Bat chopper.

Makes sense.. Jet's can not fly under radar altitude, helicopters can.
Remember American skies are constantly monitored. If an unidentified jet was flying around the military would probably shoot it down..
If he want's to stay discreet while flying, then a helicopter is really the only logical way he can.

LOL

A chopper was rumored a long time ago. This is awesome but I still hope a new batmobile - not a Tumbler - is included.

Of course they're taking Batman to the skies now. Sequels always need to be bigger and better, so it's definitely the way to go. A jet/Batwing might be cooler, but I guess a helicopter makes more sense.

I'm not liking this idea at all...what happened to the Batwing Jet? If anything they should base the design on the Harrier Jump Jet...the Jet in True Lies...it's the only jet out there that has the ability to do a Vertical take off....Perfect for Batman!

Only if it's similar to the batpod: simple, yet functional/purposefull and not too overbearing.

Ever better would be to use the blue prints from a VTOL vehicle similar to an F-35 stealth fighter. Just strip it down to the bare essentials, down size the engines, leave the wings to prop weapons/create lift, and paint it black.
