Creepy Early Concept Designs For The Joker In THE DARK KNIGHT

Check out these early designs from the book The Art Of The Dark Knight, which reveal a much more grotesque looking Joker than the one we saw Heath Ledger play in Christopher Nolan's movie..

These are pretty old (the book came out back in 2009 I believe) but as far as I know we haven't seen them here on CBM yet. You might recognize a couple of these guys. To save time the production team created manips over pictures of real people, among them Elijah Wood and Trent Reznor! Check out these pics and much more in The Art Of The Dark Knight available HERE

The first and second ones are creepier...because of the shadowing. The rest look like nothing compared to Ledger's; and yes, Ledger's looks creepier to me due to the long hair. (Though his 'creepy' is more the awesome creepy than the creepy creepy.)

Looks like Micheal Myers in the first two pics.

Interesting find, creepy as hell :O
I think Robert Englund would have made a good Joker at some point.

Is it just me or does the 3rd one down look like Elijah Wood? It makes me wonder if they ever considered Elijah as a possible Joker. Now that would have been an entirely different movie, haha.

The first one reminds me of Marilyn Manson. It is what he would look like as the Joker.

So glad they went with the long hair. The short, spiky look is wrong for Mr. J.

I like the hair on the last one, think they should have gone with that instead.

Crispin Hellion Glover would make an accurate Joker.

The Joker we got was beyond amazing. And these are incredibly old. This was an odd sight to see on the main page.

I still love the Joker makeup design from the Short Film Batman v Predator by Sandy...

Third one is extremely meh to me. Second one oozes serial killer vibe but lacks the fun exterior The Joker is known for. I never seem the fourth one before and I have say that it would of been interesting to see that onscreen. Though, the hair moving mannerism Heath incorporated was one of the reasons his portrayal was so memorable.

I like the first picture very much. I'm glad to see that the scars were an idea from the outset. It sounds like an odd thing to say but I'm glad they went with the long hair...Joker doesn't seem the type to go to the hairdressers and get a proper haircut and colour

All he would need is a pair of scissors. He obviously cares how he looks.

i was thinking about posting these earlier any ways
i loved the movie version but i would of rather seen the 2nd one cause its probably the one closest to the comics

But i love the art its fuqin crazy, so buying the book. They could always use it for the tv series but theyd have to tone it down or else it would scare the crap out of little kids who dare watch the batman
