I can't get used to his face....one of the few versions of the Joker I don't visually find scary

He's not called Crazy Quilt because he's in a sane state of mind.

And add to the fact that he has been around so long thats kinda why he's gone insane. Or why he so sane and smart that he knows he is in a comic book.

Whether it sticks or not, I bet this issue will have some cool variants, or will be worth something someday

You guys need to do some research. When you type a headline like, "Exploring the New 52 Joker's Origin" you take it for granted that it has already been stated. It hasn't.
Scott Snyder even stated so in several interviews. Here's one of them.

Here is the interview, and the excerpt.
NEWSARAMA: Just to clarify, you're not saying Joker really is immortal?

Scott Snyder: No, no, it's open-ended. I want you to feel like Batman does. Is it true? It can't be true! I don't want it to be true! I hate the idea! All of that.

I want it to be like, is this true? That's the driving engine of the story for me. Joker's saying, you've always wanted to be more than yourself, more than your body. And your biggest fear is when your mortality takes over, when you aren't fast enough or strong enough. And I'm willing to show you that not only is that moment now, but I'm going to bring it to bear against you by saying I've always been the thing that you wanted to be.

And he's saying he would have given this to Batman — like, "I would have given you the fluid in my body, in my spine. I could have turned you into what you wanted to be. But you dropped me off a cliff. And so now I'm just going to bring it all to bear against you."

Do your research. This is bad reporting at best.

So stupid, people who like this kind of "Lets make Joker have an origin, kind of..." plotting are the people who like him raping women and cutting off his nose and lips and still being able to talk.

not a big fan of this idea. I still like Snyder's Batman run though
I'm still waiting for Thomas Wayne, Jr. to return

It's always seemed plausible to me that the Joker is Thomas Wayne Jr. Thomas is Owlman on Earth 2, and, in Flashpoint, Martha ended up being the Joker. It's not that far off to assume that maybe when Bruce was too young to remember Thomas Jr. Was a sadistic young child and his parents sent him away to an asylum (i.e. Arkham). Skip ahead a couple of decades, and Thomas, now an adult released on his own recognizance, turns to a life of crime. And the rest is history. Literally.

I'm fine with the New 52, but even as someone who is very open to change, I've really hated the direction they've taken with the Joker. He just looks stupid. That dumb [frick]ing Macklemore fade.

Whether Joker is immortal or not has not been verified yet.Not that it really matters with Convergence coming up which might bring a lite reboot to continuity .

@Jollem: Haha I know that, man. But calling it a John Dillinger haircut is much less demeaning than referring to it as something douchy. Despite how long it's been around, it reminds me of Macklemore first and foremost.

@Jollem: He probably deserved it. Look how the dude grow up.

Sometimes getting your ass beat is the last resort to attaining some maturity.

I don't know if it worked, but I have a friend who knows him and he seems like a cool dude to kick it with.

@Jollem: Hahaha! Shia said in an interview that he knocked Hardy out instead. A journalist brought this to Hardy's attention, and Hardy totally went along with it to make LaBeauf seem more like a tool:

"[It was] behind the scenes," he said, before being almost drowned out by incredulous laughter, both from me and my fellow hacks, and the row of publicists sitting a short distance behind us. "No, he did," Hardy continued. "He knocked me out sparko. Out cold. He's a bad, bad boy. He is. He's quite intimidating as well. He's a scary dude."

When someone understandably asked Hardy how the fight started, Hardy was less clear.

"He just attacked me," Hardy said, provoking more laughter. "He was drinking moonshine. I was wearing a cardigan, and er, went down. I woke up in Pnut's arms."

To clarify, Pnut (pronounced Peanut) is Hardy's personal trainer. The actor continued, "He was concerned for me. I was like, ‘What was that? It was lightning fast.'" And he said, ‘That was Shia.' I said, ‘[frick]in' hell. Can we go home now?' ‘No, we've still got three weeks to finish.'"

I like that! Great thought! Almost as great a thought as Hardy one shoting Shia! I wonder if Shia wore a bag on his head for the rest of the production

The biggest problem is the reason behind this change. IE: explain how the Joker keeps coming back.
If coming back multiple times from what should be death means you are immortal then nearly EVERY hero and villain in Marvel and DC should have their origin re-written that they are immortal.

More of a marvel man, but did read all the night of the owls and the writing and the artwork is amazing. Not caught up on this story so I don't have an opinion. But...I am a hardcore wolverine fan n I felt once his past was revealed it took away from the character. Some people should be a mistery , the less you know makes them more frightening.

Terrible, but worth it.
