Following an unprecedented run for an R-rated movie that saw Todd Phillips' critically-acclaimed Joker gross over $1.036 billion at the global box office ($326.8M domestic; $710M foreign), the director - and the studio - have shared even more chilling behind-the-scenes photos from the latest DC blockbuster.

The photos feature some new looks at key moments from Arthur Fleck's (Joaquin Phoenix) journey, including his time at his clown job, disguising himself to meet Thomas Wayne (Brett Cullen), his "time" with Sophie Dumond (Zazie Beetz), the pivotal subway scene and more.

Plus, in addition to the photos, Warner Bros. has also shared a new featurette with fresh interview snippets from both Phillips and Phoenix.

Forever alone in a crowd, Arthur Fleck seeks connection. Yet, as he trods the sooted Gotham City streets and rides the graffitied mass transit rails of a hostile town teeming with division and dissatisfaction, Arthur wears two masks. One, he paints on for his day job as a clown. The other he can never remove; it’s the guise he projects in a futile attempt to feel he’s a part of the world around him, and not the misunderstood man whom life is repeatedly beating down. Fatherless, Arthur has a fragile mother, arguably his best friend, who nicknamed him Happy, a moniker that’s fostered in Arthur a smile that hides the heartache beneath. But, when bullied by teens on the streets, taunted by suits on the subway, or simply teased by his fellow clowns at work, this social outlier only becomes even more out of sync with everyone around him.

Joker features:

@Tensorpants - Made you click, didn't it?

@BigMikeReviews - It did, because I really wanted to see some chilling things, like maybe some (horrifying?) aspect we didn't see in the movie that would give me more insight into someone's inner motivations that I didn't pick up on in the movie itself.

In other words, I expected to be chilled, not just see a picture of the director and actor talking, a clapboard and a shoe.

In other words, the site took advantage of that curiosity by lying to me, and they get a click, so they win, yay for them!

P.S. At least when I see the myriad Snyder Cut articles, I can actively avoid them in all cases, because I know those are wholly useless to both me and society as a whole.

This movie is the most overrated comic book film of all time. I hated it. Joker in name only. You can’t make a joker movie without batman. Stupid idea.

@zachman2013 - Nah, Dark Knight Returns is the most overrated. Joker at least has Phoenix's performance and Cesar Romero aesthetics. TDKR has Hardy's questionable diction and a scene trying to make the "Adam West trying to get rid of a bomb" scene serious.

I think people have missed an important aspect of Joker's meteoric rise. How wrong the critics were. It sports a 69% on the critic RT Score. Not much higher than Thor the Dark World at 67%. To me it shows how out of sync these critics have become. This is probably the third most underrated CBM based on that score after Man of Steel and The Incredible Hulk!
