Mark Hamill NOT retiring as The Joker after Batman: Arkham City after all!

In a reply to a fan on Twitter it appears as though the rumours surrounding Mark Hamill’s retirement from playing The Joker after Batman: Arkham City were untrue!

After the revelation of Batman: Arkham City last year, Mark Hamill revealed, regarding his role as The Joker that:

“this will be my last, there’s no question about that. But it’s the last hurrah.”

This lead to widespread speculation that Hamill would be retiring from the role following the game's release this October. However, the rumors saying that this would be his last time in the role have been proven to be untrue by the man himself. Hamill clarified the through a response on Twitter last night in response to a fan, explaining:

“I only said Arkham Asylum would be hard to top, not that I was quitting.”

Hamill has been providing the voice of The Joker since 1992 during Batman: The Animated Series and now across nearly every medium possible. So what do you think? Does this announcement mean DC may have more projects voiced by Hamill lined up? As usual, leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Batman: Arkham City comes to the Xbox 360 and PS3 on October 18, 2011.

good news, he's got a great iconic voice, plus he voiced Wolverine in the 90's cartoon.

Don't Brett Farve your career, Mark. You deserve a lifetime achievement award for the work that you have done to satisfy the nerd community. Live long, Mark Hamill, and prosper.

(I know, wrong franchise, but still.)

DC needs to do an animated Killing Joke, just so they can make him sing that creepy-@$$ song while he's trying to drive gordon insane.

Definitely good news. Nobody does Joker like Mark.

It's a huge addition to the first game, and the 2nd would really suffer without him.

Now all I want is for him to do the Joker's voice in Young Justice....it will really save the show now because i'm starting to lose faith. They need him to bring back the kinda "spark" seen in the first episode.

Cal Dodd voiced Logan in the 90's Fox cartoon, pretty simple IMDB search would have cleared that up.

As long as there is a Joker Mark Hamill should voice him.

@threetacos Mark Hamill did the voice for a Wolverine video game, but not the animated series in the 90's. That gentlemen's name is Cal Dodd. Glad Mr. Hamill is still going to do his thing with Joker.
