It Doesn't Sound Like NIGHTWING Is A Top Priority For Warner Bros.' DC Films Division

Last night, it was revealed that The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay is in talks to direct Dungeons & Dragons and a new report reveals that it may be because Nightwing isn't a priority at DC Films.

With Aquaman set to hit theaters this December and Shazam currently shooting for a 2019 release, fans are understandably curious about what comes next for the DC Films Universe. While Flashpoint, Batgirl, and The Joker appear to be up next for Warner Bros., it now seems like Nightwing has been shelved - for a little while at least - while Chris McKay focuses his attention on Dungeons & Dragons

According to The Tracking Board, Warner Bros. chose to keep McKay in the fold following the success of The LEGO Batman Movie by giving him Nightwing but that project is said to be "years down the line" because there are so many other DC Films releases in various stages of production. As a result, it's said that the spinoff revolving around Dick Grayson simply isn't a priority for the studio as of right now.

The filmmaker has talked a lot about Nightwing on social media and is clearly passionate about the movie so chances are it will happen at some point. For now, though, Warner Bros. has plenty of Dark Knight related projects in the works, including The Batman, The Joker, Batgirl, and The Joker vs. Harley Quinn. Are you excited for Nightwing to happen? In the meantime, at least we'll see Dick in Titans

So, does Warner Bros. actually have a plan?

What the actual ASS!! Thought this project was gaining steam??!

FRICK WB....!!! Seriously!! They literally dont have a clue what is going on!! and what the people want.

I'm honestly thinking about boycotting DC personally!

@OptimusGrime - I was thinking that, but it started to become obvious when there was no casting announcement for the lead. It seems the movie is still about McKay's ideas and things he's coming up with. I was kinda liking the things he was saying and he seemed passionate about the character. I don't even know why it was planned, announced and allowed to be reported about if it's still in very rudimentary development.

@BlindWedjat - Exactly...i think you make a fair point. More about the directors excitement and plans for the movie rather than actual progress which is good in the way that hes connecting with the fans and showing interest..answering questions etc. I think im just but hurt hahaha. SO no boycotting for the moment...thanks to @BlindWedjat...
But still WB need to shape up quicktime pro

@OptimusGrime - No need to boycott anything.

DC is taking care of that for you. With the Panther killing everything in sight (including a bunch of that WW love), if Aquaman and Shazam don't rewrite WB history, it's lights out for the DCEU

@OptimusGrime - Don't get me wrong - I WANT to love DC movies.

The characters have been there my whole life - seeing Superman The Movie as a 10 year old kid in the theater was second only to Star Wars - a goddamn spiritual experience.

WB [frick]ed up royally by letting 'stylists' put their 'imprint' on iconic American characters that are the better part of 100 years old.

Marvel finally morphed the Marvel Method into the cinema during a time when the technology finally exists to make it real.

The recent spate of DC stuff looked like unreal video game worlds with janky colors and unfamiliar takes on archetypal heroes.

DCEU is D.O. [frick]ing A.

But a Joker spinoffs with another lead actor, a Harley Quinn and Joker movie with also another actor, a Lobo movie and whatever else are priorities?

I live to see WB/DC continue to fumble the ball in this Post Black Panther World.

It soothes me.

It kinda should be, seeing how anxious their Batman is to drop the mantle.

If this guy drops out as director -then im thinking the guy who directed The Raid movies..that's how i envision this movie anyway...great hand to hand fight scenes..brutal and long unrelenting fights. That's how i want my Dick movie..

Not that im saying this guy should drop out..as he seems genuinely interested in taking Dick...where no one has before....

But a Batman movie that may or may not Star Batfleck and that may or may not be part of the DCEU is a priority? Or the Joker movie that will star a different actor and won’t be part of the DCEU either?

Been saying it for months.....WB are too scared to take a chance on any of the characters that aren't really a big gun. That was kinda the whole point of the big WB shake-up....no more mistakes.

- Nightwing .......likely to be shelved

- Batgirl..........next for the chop

-Cyborg (Standalone movie)........forget about it people !

I really can't fathom how movies like MOS 2, Flash, Green Lantern or Nightwing (grayson run by King has amazing potential) aren't priority AND A JOKER ORIGIN STORY IS!!!!

Like seriously, the only character in comics that doesn't need an origin story is getting one.

Salvage what you can and reboot.
Wonder Woman is pretty much a stand alone movie so keep that in continuity, and move forward with Wonder Woman 2. If Aquaman is good and stand alone the way Wonder Woman was then keep it, same thing with Shazam. Keep Matt Reeve for The Batman, and recast since ben obviously doesnt want to do it, do the Matthew Vaughn Superman movie, do a regular flash movie not Flashpoint, do Green Lantern, then once all those are made do Justice League again, id say get Joss Whedon, cause Justice Leagues faliure wasnt his fault, he was just doing what the studio wanted him to do, it was still mostly Zack's movie, and it was the studio who forced him to make it 2 hours. Also keep going with Batgirl and Nightwing. Also if you want to do something different than marvel, why not just skip the origin, and go straight in with a decently established universe and they can tell the origins in stylized title sequences like how the Incredible Hulk did

@dracula - Nowhere in your comment do you give any reason to reboot. If they keep Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Matt Reeves' Batman film and Matthew Vaughn's Superman film, there's really nothing to reboot, nor should they reboot. The fact that the cast and the characters haven't been the problem, but how the studio ruins things, indicates that rebooting the DC Films Cinematic Universe and putting the same idiots (who ruined Snyder and Ayer's films) in charge of the new Cinematic Universe would just create more problems than it would solve.
