Development on a
Nightwing film at Warner Bros. is currently underway, and although an actor has yet to be cast as the titular DC Comics hero, Nick Jonas has officially thrown his hat into the ring. Speaking to ComicBook.com, the singer-turned-actor was shown a photo of Nightwing and asked if he'd be interested in the part.
"I would," Jonas responded.
"I'd be super down for this."
The question apparently stems from a number of fans who have taken to social media to campaign for the actor to play the role of Dick Grayson, a.k.a. Nightwing, in the upcoming DCEU standalone film.
Jonas continued,
"I didn't know there was people vying for me to play this role but keep the chatter alive people! If you vote for me, maybe they'll cast me in it! And then, I don't know, I'll thank you all later."
When asked about the prospect of playing an ally to Batman, Jonas simply responded,
"That'd be awesome."
There's been plenty of speculation (and debate) surrounding the role of Dick Grayson, with
Stranger Things 2 star Dacre Montgomery recently adding fuel to the fire when he tweeted (and since deleted) an image of the character. This forced a response from
Nightwing director Chris McKay who revealed the studio
hasn't even started the process of casting for the role yet. The director
previously said they were going to take their time and
"cast a wide net" to find
"the perfect person" for the part.
Will the studio's net be wide enough to find Nick Jonas, whose acting resume includes the upcoming
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle? How do you feel about Nick Jonas playing Dick Grayson in a
