Nearly a year since the world lost Kevin Conroy last November, and two months since the passing of Arleen Sorkin, the actress who breathed life into the Joker's girlfriend turned fan-favorite, Harley Quinn in Batman: The Animated Series. It has been reported that actor Richard Moll, who was best remembered for originating the voice of Harvey Dent/Two-Face in the aforementioned series had died at the age of 80 at his home in Big Bear Lake, California.
The 6-foot deep-voiced actor, known for playing child-like bailiff Aristotle Nostradamus "Bull" Shannon on the NBC Sitcom, Night Court from 1984-1992, came to prominence in voice acting on Batman: The Animated Series as Gotham City district attorney, Harvey Dent. Also better known by the moniker of the half-scarred coin-tossing villain, Two-Face. A role that cemented the tragic transition of the classic Batman rogue from a beloved public figure to a tragic guttural-voiced pariah who decides the fate of his enemies with a simple coin.
Moll would later voice Two-Face again in the sequel series, The New Batman Adventures in 1997 and briefly in the 2010 Batman: The Brave and the Bold episode, "Chill of the Night!". The same episode where Moll additionally voiced gangster Lew Moxon, had him reunite with both Conroy and Mark Hamill voicing the Phantom Stranger and the Spectre. It was widely considered by fans as one of the series' best episodes.
While he retired from acting in 2018, Bruce Timm took over for Moll as Two-Face in a bit part in Justice League vs. The Fatal Five in 2019.
He also had a fair share of voice acting in Marvel-related properties, such as the Scorpion in the 1994 Spider-Man animated series, the Abomination in The Incredible Hulk in 1996, and the Devil Hulk in the video game, The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction in 2005. As well as other animated cartoons including Freakazoid!, Cow & Chicken, AAAHH!!! Real Monsters, Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League, The Zeta Project, and a main role in Mighty Max as Norman; the warrior bodyguard of the titular hero. And was even heard in the video games, Fallout in 1997 and Dante's Inferno in 2010.
The actor also had a fair share of live action in several comedies from the likes of The Flintstones, Loaded Weapon 1, Jingle All The Way, Scary Movie 2, Evolution, and the TV movie, Scooby-Doo: Curse of the Lake Monster.
We like to offer our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Richard Moll in this time of grieving.
Here's a toss of the old coin for Big Bad Harv himself.
