According to Rotten Tomatoes, X-Men: First Class was the best reviewed superhero comic book movie of 2011. But which out of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises and The Amazing Spider-Man will triumph in 2012? When I asked you guys which of these you thought would be the most financially successful, a whopping 65.39% of you decided that there was no doubt that TDKR would come out on top. But then I asked which you think the critics will most fall in love with. While I find it hard to imagine the new Ghost Rider getting top scores, it's difficult to decide which of the others will. With great casts and directors behind them all, this was a tough one, and here are the results in full...

I really feel like TDKR will win the hearts of critics just because it does what every critic loves: Tells a cohesive, impressive and intriguing story.

The results aren't surprising at all, Nolan's work on the whole is much more impressive than Marvel Studios', though I wouldn't be surprised if The Amazing Spider-Man rates extremely well.

Better director, better cast, better prequels --> greater perception of TDKR doing the best critically.

First of all, most film critics are a bunch of under-achieving pricks who can't hack it in the real journalism profession.
Secondly, phuque them and their opinions- I was born with my own.
Thirdly, the ONLY opinions of how good, bad or ugly a movie is that I trust is right here on this site, offered by you guys. When you average out the total of opinions posted in the threads, it's always right.
Fanboy's are the only dependable critics.
MovieMann
MovieMann - 11/12/2011, 1:33 PM
Of course.
Christopher Nolan's Batman films are the only comic book movies that can be put up against the great films, and not pale in comparison.
Hell, TDK has transcended the CBM genre and made it into the great films category.

headlopper - 11/12/2011, 1:35 PM
As for TDKR winning, it's as I posted before- the general public knows and loves Batman. Especially now that Nolan has masterfully brought him back to life. I guarantee you, everybody and their mother's gonna want to see what happens next in Batman/Bruce Wayne's world.
If Nolan stays true to his vision and maintains the quality of film making demonstrated in 1 & 2 , this movie will own the summer.

Gollum's riddle. Some might not know the answer.
Give it a try!

This thing all things devours:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down.

I knew it from the book so I won't say:)

As for this result, yes it was expected and probably spot on but we won't know how any of these movies turn out until they are..out! I think Webb's Spider-Man will surprise many people.

@Evilos32

Return Of The King is one of the highest grossing films of all time.

In fact, let me clear it up for you:

Fellowship Of The Ring:
Domestic: $314,776,170
+ Foreign: $555,985,574
= Worldwide: $870,761,744

The Two Towers:
Domestic: $341,786,758
+ Foreign: $583,495,746
= Worldwide: $925,282,504

Return Of The King:
Domestic: $377,027,325
+ Foreign: $742,083,616
= Worldwide: $1,119,110,941

As you can see, they are all much, much higher than 400 million.

I copied that from their box office mojo, if you feel the need to verify this.
Irons
Irons - 11/12/2011, 5:33 PM
He's probably talking about domestic, but yeah The Hobbit ought to have the highest total world wide in 2012.
