THE BATMAN: Joey Lawrence And His Fans Are Campaigning For Him To Become The Next Caped Crusader

Whoa! Joey Lawrence, the former teenage heartthrob from the hit '90s show Blossom, is campaigning to be the next Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves' The Batman. His fans have even launched a petition!

The search is on for the lead character of Matt Reeves' The Batman and there's no shortage of actors vying for the role of the Caped Crusader. The latest looking to don the iconic cowl is none other than Joey Lawrence - yes, the actor best known for his role as Joey Russo on the hit '90s show Blossom. Whoa!

When news broke that Ben Affleck would no longer be playing Bruce Wayne in the Matt Reeves' film, Lawrence immediately threw his hat into the ring. In recent weeks, the former teenage heartthrob (and currently ripped actor/musician) has been quite vocal about his desire to play Batman on social media.

Now, his fans are kicking it up a notch, launching a petition to help him land the part.

The petition reads:

Joey Lawrence is not only an extremely talented actor and has a wider acting range than most people are aware of, but the guy is a beast. He is laser focused and super committed. If he gets this part I can guarantee you won't be disappointed. The other great thing about Joey Lawrence that people may not realize is that he is in better physical shape (and more agile) than guys 15 years younger than him. So their excuse of wanting to go with a younger actor is stupid. Joey is more than capable. He could crush the competition. Joey Lawrence will make an amazing Batman!!

While the legion of Joey Lawrence fans have made their voices heard, it's doubtful that Warner Bros. or director Matt Reeves are actually turning to social media for their search. While we may not have an exact name tied to the role right now, it seems they do have a specific type of actor in mind. We've heard reports that the studio is looking for a "familiar face".

It has also been reported that this new version of Batman will be somewhere in the middle of "straight-up rookie" and "expert, undefeatable crimefighter at his peak."

Joey Lawrence has remained active in his acting career and as you can see from his Instagram page, he's quite fit. He'd certainly be an interesting and, undoubtedly, unexpected choice to fill the role. What do you think of the prospect of Joey Lawrence playing Bruce Wayne/Batman?

@Evansly - I agree. Imagine Batman in the middle of a fight scene going, “whoa!” No thanks.

Can't imagine him as the Caped Crusader if I'm being honest. And I only know him this sitcom "Melissa & Joey", which was ... meh.

@IronGenesis - that's ridiculous, the billionaire playboy? He couldn't hold his own in a fight, plus what does he care about crime in Gotham? Probably makes his fortune off of it. Be realistic.

:)

I like Joey but not for Batman and he is WAAYYYY past the age they are looking for. He is in great shape so I say put this man in some B-action movies, LOL.

@Steel86 - I don't like him as a hero, but as a villain instead. Think villains fron the 60's tv show. Egghead, the Bookworm, Mad Hatter something like that.

I never understand how actors don't also realize that this method of getting a role has (as far as I know) a 0% hit rate on actually being cast

Wtf... hell no.

Even when he was younger and had hair, hell no. The Lawrence brothers are over actors. Keep them away from CBMs.
