Jon Favreau was one of the judges who voted the TDKR teaser trailer best in show as well as summer 2012 blockbuster trailer. Thought that was pretty cool. :)

RealGothamite@ I don't think people are discounting that TDKR won a trailer award. I think they are discounting the fact there is a trailer award in the first place. You can add me to that list of people. Regadless of who wins the award it is just a ridiculous award in my opinion. To each their own.

"What's wrong with giving a movie trailer an award? I love trailers! Everyone loves trailers!"

What's next. Best acting performance in a trailer? :-P I actually don't enjoy trailers as much anymore because they are longer and reveal too much of a film. Too many key scenes and the best scenes are shown and we all know how great trailers don't always translate to a film being that good. People complain about it all the time here.

"some questionable nominees and shafts"

You pay to be considered and it is determined by a panel of 13 judges from the industry. It's not a wide and large cross sector of the population determining the winner. I was surprised to see this has been going on for over a dozen years now.

I whole heartedly agree that trailers can be overly revealing or misleading. A trailer can look good and then the movie turns out to be crap. Happens all the time. But it doesn't necessarily go the othe way. Just because the movie was crap does not mean that a trailer that was previously good becomes crap. A good trailer is good despite how the movie performs. And as far as giving an award to a movie trailer, it's not like they are handing out oscars. This is an award show specifically tailored for movie trailers. It's not even very well known. Hell, I don't think it even airs on television. Anyways, the point is many people enjoy movie trailers because so much time goes into making them these days. Go watch a movie trailer from 10 years ago and they don't hold up against today's. And I don't think it's such a bad idea that they honor the work that goes into them. Like I said, it's not an Oscar. It's just a way of recognizing their work.

@Goomba,

So yea you do know that besides the executives that some press got to see an early cut of the movie and EVERYBODY...EVERYBODY loved it. Everybody knew once Godfather 3 didnt get Robert Duvall that it was going to be a failure, same thing with Spider-man 3. Once Sony said to Raimi that he had to put Venom in the movie everybody saw failure coming a mile away. WB has stayed a mile away from this film because they dont want to F it up.
