This month, I'll be attempting to examine the impact of comic book movies on their comic book counterparts. Does a successful comic book movie translate to more comic book sales? Is that growth sustainable? We'll be looking at these topics and more all month long. First off, we'll be looking at the character Bane and whether you know have a little more respect for the villain after watching The Dark Knight Rises. There's no facts or figures to examine with this one, just take the survey to let us know your opinion.

Court of Owls. :P No just kidding, Joker is the first one. Still really like the Court. Hope his baby bro gives him some more trouble soon too. Great villain.

Not at all. He's just one of those villains that isn't as popular as the Joker, two-face or the riddler. He's in my top 10 batman villians though.

Well, the movie increased the popularity for me. I HATED the idea of Bane in the comics, but Hardy did very well in the role. But I think I'm still ONLY a fan of Hardy's Bane.

Joker
Two~Face
Riddler

3 og the most Classic villains although Riddler can be too much like Joker depending on how your looking at him.

Course Clayface would be cool if done right (Arkham City had a perfect conception of him)

I'll add Penguin to those three.

I bet non-comicbook readers knew Egghead and King Tut more than Bane before TDKR.

Bane should be higher up but most writers dont know how to use Bane properly other than hired muscle. KnightFall, Vengeance of Bane I & II and Legacy are his only good arcs. The rest treat him like a brute not rhe physical and mental equal to Batman.

Joker, Ras al Ghul, and Two Face for me. Two-Face is my second favorite, but Ras al Ghul is arguably the most formidable so I think he deserves 2nd place.

Anyway if Bane's popularity has increased we can all thank Tom Hardy for that. He was sublime in that role, and I rank him just (barely) below ledgers joker as far as greatest comic book villains (on screen) go. He was menacing, surprisingly poignant, and through himself into that role and it shows. My personal favorite Batman adversaries are:

1) Joker (Duh)
2) Two Face
3) Bane
4) Scare Crow
5) Hush

10000000000000) The Riddler (I'm sorry but I always think of him as a lame villain. I think Arkham City portrayed him the best as a cross beween the zodiac killer and jig saw, but the character never resonated with me personally).

If the Riddler is ever used as a villain David Fincher or the Coen brothers better be directing. Which will never happen. I would like the next "trilogy" to be a bit more personal and focus around black mask, the mob, and the crazies that inhabit Gotham. I want Gotham to be more bleak than in Nolan's films, and I want the director to explore a little bit what day to day life is for an average citizen, not just Batman. While I commend Nolan for focusing on Batman, I want to see just how destitute Gotham is for everyone else, and show us why nobody ever leaves the crazy crime infested city.

Joker's popularity can't be increased more!
Since what Heath & TDK did for already the most popular villain in the world! (one of the Most popular is debatable)!!

Ras AlGhul, Scarecrow & Two-Face are much more know now... Outside comic world!
& especially BANE!
Now everyone knows; there's only ONE GUY who beat (or say BROKE) BATMAN!

That's your motherfvcking BANE!!!

BANE is not known to anyone outside comics... Untill Now!
Now; BANE is BOSS!

Do U Feel ... INCHARGE?!?

Everyone has their own taste, but I find it very meh when someone can say that Nolan's Bane was "better" than the ICONIC COMIC BOOK Bane.

I don't get it.

Sorry, this poll shouldn't be a matter of opinion. To get a real answer you would have needed to survey people before and after TDKR.

I like Bane a hell lot more because of Rises. He's always been a good threat, but not (and still not) one of my favorites. The Joker and Two-Face were the two villains I found most important in the mythos — and maybe I prefer the mental challenge they offer. Begins brought Ra's al Ghul to my attention — he is (in my opinion) Batman's toughest adversary.

The Joker
Two-Face
Ra's al Ghul

@MrElko I completely agree. The original Bane should be brought back. Clayface can take the "Hulk-role". Bane should be big before the Venom.

when written well (a rarity I admit) Freeze is by far my favourite, but due to the fact there are literally only a handful of truly good Freeze appearances number one goes to Mr. J. Followed by Freeze and Two-Face. I liked Hardy's Bane, but he's still not up there for me.

Sodacake,

I think this poll is directed at those who were familiar with Bane in the past, and are more knowledgeable when it comes to comics. The point is to see if his popularity has risen with comic book readers. Sure, anytime a movie featuring is released featuring a certain villain his popularity will rise. However, Batman's rogues are already insanely popular, and for most fans it is going to take more than an amazing performance on the silver screen to change their mind about who their favorite Batman rogues are. It's an interesting poll, for this site anyway, because there are A LOT of hardcore and very knowledgeable fans, and I am interested to see what they think.

However, if you just want to arbitrary make fun of everyone who wants to discuss this power to you. It doesn't make you smarter than anyone else, in fact, you come across as very immature, and your opinion means nothing to everyone else. Keep on, keeping on though. I'm sure your a popular person ;-).
