BLACK ADAM: The Movie Now Won't Start Shooting Until 2021 According To New Report

There have been rumblings that this could be the case for a while, and a new report seemingly confirms that Black Adam's production start date will be delayed due to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's schedule.

As of right now, Black Adam is set to be released next December, but that's looking increasing unlikely given what's happening in the world right now. Production on the DC Comics adaptation was supposed to kick off this summer, and while Warner Bros. continues to put the cast together, a new report indicates that shooting won't actually begin until next year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Black Adam's start date has been changed due to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's commitment to Netflix movie Red Notice. Work on that was halted in response to COVID-19, and production is expected to resume in the coming weeks.

The Shazam! sequel has already been postponed, and it now seems like a matter of time before we get a new release date for Black Adam at some point in 2022 rather than next year.

It's possible an official announcement will be made at the upcoming DC FanDome event as it's been confirmed that Black Adam will have a presence there. Beyond that, it's unlikely we'll get a first look at Johnson suited up unless he's already done a costume test or Warner Bros. releases more concept art.

Are you disappointed about the prospect of Black Adam potentially slipping into 2022?

How about they just delay the filming indefinitely?

No problem. Best to be slow and safe.

This reeks of a movie that was never gonna get made anyway. Like Gambit. Where you just kinda know. The first movie worked because it was a silly goofball adventure family superhero movie. I feel like the whole black adam thing doesn’t mesh with that vibe at all. Plus they gotta stop calling all these black characters black this and black that haha. I mean black panther always seemed like a dumb name to me. Most panthers are black. Just call the dude the panther lol. Don’t confuse this for political correctness bullshit either, just something that always struck me as wierd.

@connorblaze - Most panthers aren’t black... Panthers are jaguars or leopards or cougars or mountain lions. If, however, you should get an excessively black jaguar or leopard, it’s called a black panther. It’s not a species though.

So originally it was more of a descriptive term, like the phrase white tiger, to separate it from what one would commonly expect from the species.

@connorblaze - When he was first created and called Black Adam he was depicted as white as Billy Batson. It was more the color black like his costume, but I get what you’re saying for sure. Black Lightning could have jus been called Lightning or something for instance.

@Chewtoy - Most panthers are black sir and they are also called jaguars, leopards, cougars or mountain lions; it just depends on where they are geographically located is where the name comes in.

But i understand what connorblaze is saying.

@SteelGunZ - Well, no... they’re all of the genus Panthera, and none of them are commonly black. Jaguars and leopards are separate species (Panthera Onca and Panthera Pardus) and are typically tan-yellow and white with black and tan spots, with the leopard usually having smaller spots.

Cougars and mountain lions are the same thing as each other and aren’t of the genus Panthera at all... they’re Pumas. But they’re commonly called panthers anyway. They don’t come in the black coloring at all.

That's the world we live in, but eventually (and hopefully) everything will be alright and back on track.

Getting some official cast announcement during DCFandome would be sweeeat.

At this point they should just scrap it and focus on something else.

Funny how they cast this like 8 years ago...crazy how inept Warners seem to be at managing their properties.

Just scrap it & do a proper Justice Society of America movie, throw in someone from the Trinity if they need a big name to front it.

@cjspade - That’d be funny. Adam Warlock instead of Black Adam.
