@Chaos200 - We’re all brothers & sisters...even though we have the ignorant ones to mess it up for the good people of the world.

@superbigguy32 - I know I was just making fun of people who actually think like that. I hate how segregated we've become.

@Chaos200 - Yes, Sadly there are actually people who write things like this about Black Panther and turn it into a divisive issue instead of just enjoying it for being a comic book movie.

"In the midst of a regressive cultural and political moment fueled in part by the white-nativist movement, the very existence of Black Panther feels like resistance."

Sigh.

Here is the article:

@411IDSigo - I mean he has a point, there nothing wrong with celebrating blackness but we don't need to be lambasting white people to do it, that's my problem.

@Chaos200 - I think it's great celebration ANY achievement, Black, White or whoever, but they are making this movie into something more than it is. It is a comic book movie.

If you read that article, especially the last paragraph you have to shake your head.

"Many civil rights pioneers and other trailblazing forebears have received lavish cinematic treatments, in films including Malcolm X, Selma and Hidden Figures. Jackie Robinson even portrayed himself onscreen. Fictional celluloid champions have included Virgil Tibbs, John Shaft and Foxy Brown. Lando, too. But Black Panther matters more, because he is our best chance for people of every color to see a black hero. That is its own kind of power."

"He is our best chance for people of every color to see a black hero"???

Who was Martin Luther King, or Malcolm X, or Rosa Parks.
What about all of the sports stars and coaches and quarterbacks.
What about Hermann Cain - self-made millionaire.
What about Dr. Ben Carson - the most respected brain surgeon in the country.
What about Condaleeza Rice - Former Secretary of State and self made and now a professor at Columbia. She's utterly fantastic.
What about Barack Obama. He was President for God's sake.
What about Oprah, she is a self made billionaire and one of the most popular media figure in America.
Dr. Dre brought himself off of the bad streets and is a billionaire.
What about Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas.
How about all of the fantastic actors and actresses (Denzel, Sidney Poiter, Morgan Freeman, and on and on)

There are SO many fantastic role models for "people of every color to see". Why are they hitching their wagon to a comic book character?

I just don't get it. That article only makes me ask the question again. Is Black America so devoid of role models that they have to turn to a comic book movie character?

The answer is NO....but this article says it is and that's not only wrong but damaging to young children who need to respect REAL role models, not made up ones.

(and I'm sure I'll be attacked for this too of course)
