The Black Panther lives!

After a record-breaking opening weekend, the Ryan Coogler-directed Marvel blockbuster continues its reign at the box office with a stellar $108 million sophomore outing (47% drop), which makes it the second largest second weekend of all-time domestically, topping Jurassic World ($106.6M) and The Avengers ($103M) and firmly placing it behind Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($149.2M). The film has now grossed over $400 million domestic in its first ten days.

Internationally, the critically-acclaimed superhero feature raked in another $83.8 million and its current worldwide haul stands at a massive $704 million, which is already the tenth-highest total in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe (not accounting for inflation). It's also now the ninth-highest grossing superhero movie of all-time (not accounting for inflation) and it's only the end of its second week.

Black Panther's second weekend was actually higher than the opening weekends for several major 2017 blockbusters, including Wonder Woman ($103.3M), The Fate of the Furious ($98.8M), and Justice League ($93M).

As for the rest of the box office, John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein's well-received R-rated comedy Game Night, which starred Jason Bateman (Arrested Development) and Rachel McAdams (Doctor Strange), finished second with a respectable $16.6 million domestic. Meanwhile, Alex Garland's sci-fi thriller Annihilation, which starred Natalie Portman (Thor) and Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok), wasn't quite as fortunate, opening in fourth with an underwhelming $11 million stateside.

So, what do you guys think? Which film did you see this weekend? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
