BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER Star Tenoch Huerta Says His Namor IS A Mutant; New Image Released

Empire Magazine has debuted yet another still from Marvel Studios' Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, this time giving us a new look at Tenoch Huerta as Namor, The Sub-Mariner. Check it out...

Marvel Comics fans have been waiting a long time for the big-screen debut of aquatic hero/antihero Namor, The Sub-Mariner, and the character will finally make his presence felt in the MCU when he's introduced as the main villain in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

While speaking to Empire, director Ryan Coogler reveals that he views Namor as a "dream antagonist" for the sequel because “the contrast between T’Challa and Namor – their characters, and their nations – just leaps off the page.”

Of course, T'Challa won't actually be a part of Wakanda Forever following the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman, but his legacy will carry on, and a new character (most likely Letitia Wright's Shuri) will take up the mantle of Black Panther to protect Wakanda from Namor and his armies.

The Sub-Mariner is often referred to as Marvel's first mutant, and while there's been some debate about his canonical origins over the years, Tenoch Huerta has now confirmed that his take on the character will follow suit.

He doesn't elaborate, but it'll obviously be interesting to see if this has any ramifications for the MCU moving forward.

We do know that Namor will be "drawn to the surface by the ramifications of T’Challa’s decision in Black Panther’s final reel to reveal the truth of Wakanda to the world." “That decision puts Talocan in jeopardy,” says the actor. “And Talocan has to take action to protect themselves.”

Check out a new image of Huerta as The Savage Sub-Mariner at the link below.

In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira), and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. Introducing Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of a hidden undersea nation, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena, and Alex Livanalli.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters on November 11.

I'm really coming around on Namor's look, still kinda bummed he's not from Atlantis, but I'm more open to the change now than I was months ago when it was revealed.

Massively hyped for this portrayal. The only hispanic characters we have in the MCU is falcons new sidekick and Luis from Antman who plays a stereotypical mexican from the hood for shits and giggles. Who else as a superhero can represent us? I'd rather it be something new and exciting this this displaying our roots then a caricature mocking our race :/

P.S we has have America Chavez so up until this, we were good enough for sidekicks and a fool from the hood....

You are forgetting America Chavez and Maya Lopez (Echo) and they are replacing Falcon with Joaquín Torres.

You don't even realize when they give you Hispanic characters.

There are a ton of Hispanic characters in Marvel that they should have introduced. They didn't have to race swap or change Namor.

Bonita Juarez (Firebird)
Ava Ayala (White Tiger)
Miguel Santos (Lightning)
Victor Alvarez (Power Man)
Miles Morales has already been represented and has another movie coming out.
and Robbie Reyes became Ghost Rider

@TyrantBossMedia - What's done is done. They're not going to scrap the movie and recast because some people are upset at the ethnicity of a fictional race of ocean dwellers. Atlantians are mostly blue in the comics anyway.

@TyrantBossMedia - Didn't say you did. But it's pointless to keep dwelling on the fact that Namor and Atlantis are Hespanic/Mesoamerican in the MCU. We've literally known this for months. I think it's best to move on and wait for the movie to release and judge Namor when we've seen him in all his glory.

@comicfan100 - " Didn't say you did." You had the first part right. I didn't say it.

I'm dwelling on it? I didn't bring it up, notorious1 brought it up and that is the theme of the article.

Man you can't avoid numerous straw man arguments.

@comicfan100 - Atlanteans are bluebin the movie too. Namor was never blue because he's half Atlantean and half Human.

@notorious1 - what percentage of Hispanic people ha e Aztec roots?

1%?

If you aren't of Aztec descent how could rhis represent you? How moronic.

That's like saying as an Irish person I feel represented by this character of Sicilian ethnicity.

See how stupid that sounds?
