Lupita mentioned in an interview how awful the prospect of playing her role while pretending T'Challa was still alive would be, which I think hits on how terrible it would've been to recast T'Challa at this point. Chadwick wasn't just an icon who played a role, but was the guy who all the cast and crew were close to. Can't even imagine how devastating it would've been to deal with everything this production dealt with while having to pretend some other dude was the guy who your dead friend was playing. The human element of this is incredibly heavy

@OmegaDaGrodd - Excellent point that further emphasizes why a little more compassion was needed in making this decision. For all those demanding they recast him instead for this movie, I think there’d be way more people who’d find that in bad taste than people who needed a recast. The best option would probably be to pause the money machine and delay this movie a long time, but we knew that wasn’t going to happen and look at all the other talented people in it that won’t stick around much longer I’m sure.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - I've also noticed that the kind of people (not ALL of them, but a lot of them) that repeatedly make a fuss about how they should have recast T'Challa are exactly the kind of people that wouldn't have liked the movie either way.

On the Harrison Ford replacing William Hurt thread, one of the people who were the most up in arms about them not recasting T'Challa also said that the first Black Panther movie was terrible in the same breath.

I think some people just like to have something negative to say about something they don't like (without having to say the real reason they don't like it).

@bobevanz - Also, despite the article saying Yvette Nicole Brown and Donald Glover not having signed on, YNB tweeted out the announcement and Joel McHale tagged both of them in his Instagram post.

Chevy, well, let's just be kind and point out Pierce has canonically passed away.

@OmegaDaGrodd - People troll Shuri actor but she's the best for the new black panther. She's a great actor too. They should just get a Multiverse T'challa and have two Black panthers without recasting chadwick, everyone wins easy

@OmegaDaGrodd - To hell with that. This movie better be great. Otherwise, it's just milking Chadwicks death to overshadow the fact that strong Male leads are unfavored in the new MCU.

@tripttwe - you just made that up based on zero objective
evidence or insider knowledge, which is a weird thing to do considering the sensitivity and layers in this situation

Be better

Doesn't need insider knowledge. Just pay attention.

The only sensitivity is to those thinking this man was really Black Panther.

Take my work, throw it down the drain when I die, then tell me it's because you miss me too much to continue?

Bull. Shit.

@tripttwe -

I said you had no objective evidence that male leads were "unfavored" in the current MCU and all you had were gifs of women, most of which aren't even leads in the projects they appeared in. Here's a good example of objective evidence: how many Phase 4, 5 and 6 projects have male leads and how many have female leads? I already know there are more male led ones, but I'll let you do the math yourself so you can feel extra silly for trying to make such an ignorant, callous and transparently incorrect point

"The only sensitivity is to those thinking this man was really Black Panther."

Wrong again. The people who actually knew, worked with and were close to T'Challa are the ones the casting choice was most sensitive to, which you would know if you read their actual words and took more than 5 seconds to think through the logic of the situation surrounding this movie. It takes a special kind of fool to know so little and try to say so much

@OmegaDaGrodd - Riddle me this: Name one job where a top employee's death results in not replacing him with another employee.

Grieving is one thing, but this is beyond that. Our people are taught to mourn, weep bitterly for a few days, then move on.

The movie may blow us away with the outcome. Based on the playlist since Endgame, try not to get too offended when I say I'm not completely optimistic about the outcome.

But if Troy isn't in it it's kind of pointless.

Lol. People talking about this dude like he was some Messiah like figure or like a Malcolm X type.

He was an actor...a good one yes, but just an actor. Give it a rest already.
