Letitia Wright Confirmed To Return As Shuri For Both AVENGERS 4 And BLACK PANTHER 2

This probably shouldn't come as a surprise but it's been confirmed that Letitia Wright will be reprising the role of T'Challa's sister Shuri in both the Avengers: Infinity War sequel and Black Panther 2...

Thanksgiving is on the horizon so it appears as if Hollywood is dropping as much news as possible before the holidays arrive. Today, it's been revealed that John Boyega (Star Wars Episode IX) and Letitia Wright (Black Mirror) will be teaming up for a movie called Hold Back The Stars. The sci-fi adventure was penned by Christy Hall and is set to be directed by Mike Cahill.

It's described as Romeo & Juliet meets Gravity and the book it's based on features the couple revisiting memories of their love affair on a utopian Earth while they are trapped in the vast void of space with only 90 minutes of oxygen left.

The big news here for comic book fans, though, is the fact that the trade confirms Wright will be reprising the role of Shuri in both Avengers 4 and Black Panther 2. That's probably not news which will surprise you but seeing as the character's fate was left a mystery at the end of Avengers: Infinity War (we never saw whether she was turned to dust), this is still good to know.

Are you excited to see more of Shuri? Do you think she could suit up as the Black Panther in T'Challa's absence? As always, weigh in with your thoughts in the comments section down below.

I like how even she got a slight fight scene in infinity war.

@MadameCipher - She is fun and charming, one the best parts of BP for me. I'm not a big BP fan so I really don't mind if she takes the mantle in a couple movies.

@Kleytus - I love shuri, but i t challa needs way more movies first. He is the black panther. I would prefer if she became the black panther in avengers 4 for like a scene or two

@MadameCipher - That scene was pretty intense. I was a bit worried for her.

@MadameCipher - she was a bright spot in a slightly boring film

@MadameCipher - Yeah, it would be great if the movie could open on a scene where Black Panther in a brand new female costume kicks the shit out of a few enemies, gets nearly killed in the process, then reveals it's Shuri in the costume, and she says something like "This isn't right, I'm not ready". But seeing her as BP for a scene or 2 would be amazing, not because she needs to replace Chad, but because her time as Queen and BP in the comics was amazing.

@Asturgis - She does not even need to do much, just give orders her in bp suit, maybe fight some chautari if thats where the final fight goes

Definitely one of the best MCU supporting characters, in performance and characterisation. Can't wait to see more of her.

@BlindWedjat - She was really great in one of the BEST episodes of Black Mirror. I'd highly recommend it, if you (or anyone else) haven't seen it.

Although the particular episode she is in requires a bit of knowledge from previous Black Mirror episodes, but it's not crucial to watch them all.

On topic: Coogler admits there's a lot of pressure making the sequel

I assumed she would be integral to whatever happens with Vision, but it will be interesting to see how much screentime she gets in A4, especially if she becomes Queen and Black Panther, especially because there's no more heart shaped herb

@OmegaDaGrodd - I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a secret garden or stash of heart shaped herb somewhere in case the garden was destroyed that T’challa Isn’t aware of yet. Or Shuri could synthesize a new one from T’challas Blood similar to what they tried to do with Steve back in the 40’s
Kumkani
Kumkani - 11/9/2018, 5:53 AM
@OmegaDaGrodd - I have a feeling either Shuri or Ramonda is Queen but Okoye is the Black Panther right now. They're separate titles in the MCU and it makes sense for it to be Okoye right now since she's described as the second best warrior besides T'Challa (and that's what the mantle requires).

Plus Okoye being in her own BP costume would be cool as hell.

@WackyBantha - That was one of the few jokes in the MCU that I feel will NOT age well.

Like that RDJ line from the first 5 minutes of Iron Man, "I don't wanna see this on your MYSPACE page."

I hope they try an avoid "timely" jokes like this one in the future.

Small nitpick. Still a funny scene though.

It's impossible not to like her character in Black Panther and IW. She was great.
But personally I hope that they aren't planning on having her accept the mantle of Black Panther as she did in the comics. I really don't think of this character as a warrior and I like her fine just the way she is.

They need someone who is highly skilled in hand to hand combat for that. A warrior-born. Like Tchalla's general. Or that awesome Man-Ape dude.
