We're now less than a month away from the simultaneous theatrical and Disney+ release of Black Widow, and tickets for what will most likely be Natasha Romanoff's (Scarlett Johansson) final MCU adventure went on sale earlier today.
Now, Dolby Cinema and RealD 3D have released their exclusive poster art, giving us all-new looks at the movie's main players.
Director Cate Shortland spoke to Fandango about the release of the movie, which suffered significant delays as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The filmmaker expressed how excited she is that fans are finally going to get the chance to experience Black Widow, which she confirms will be a "little bit" darker than previous MCU installments.
"First, we looked at things like No Country for Old Men," she said when asked what other films inspired the overall tone. "And then we looked at things like Thelma and Louise. And the Marvel film — people that have seen it have said it reminds them of it — [is] Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
Back in March, Disney officially announced that Black Widow would debut on Disney+ Premier Access at the same time it hits theaters. The Marvel prequel was set for a theatrical release on May 7 before being pushed back to July 9, and will now be made available to Disney+ subscribers for an extra $30.
Black Widow finds Natasha Romanoff "confronting the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger. Joining Johansson in the new feature film are Florence Pugh as Yelena, David Harbour as Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz as Melina."
