BLUE BEETLE Receives A Premiere Date For MAX Streaming Service And It's Rapidly Approaching

Following a disappointing theatrical run, the DCEU's Blue Beetle will soon be making its way to Max, Warner Bros' streaming platform that was formerly known as HBO Max.

Despite ending its theatrical run as the lowest-grossing DCEU movie of all-time after its August 18 release, Bule Beetle will go down as one of the polarizing superhero universe's best-reviewed films.  The film received a 78% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes which seems sky-high when compared to the likes of Wonder Woman 1984 (58%), Batman v Superman (29%), Man of Steel (56%),  and Aquaman (66%).

Only The Suicide Squad (90%), Shazam! (90%), and the first Wonder Woman film (93%) garnered a higher approval rating.

But it's not all doom and gloom for Blue Beetle as the film's star, ‎Xolo Maridueña is confirmed to move forward and reprise the role of Jaime Reyes in James Gunn's new DC Universe.

Blue Beetle actually started out as a project that was intended for HBO Max, now going by just Max. But director Angel Manuel Soto pushed for the film to receive a theatrical release.

"When I came into the project, the mandate at the time was that everything goes to HBO Max. I was like, I'll do the movie for the opportunity. [But] it can't be that the first time we have a Latino superhero front and center, not just a Latino playing a hero- [but] where he's a Latino, his family is Latino and they're going to actually be heroes of their own stories for the first time, it can not just live on streaming. It has to go to the theaters," said Soto in a previous interview.

Now, it has been announced that Blue Beetle will be hitting its original intended destination on November 17. Did you catch Blue Beetle in theaters or did you make a rental or digital purchase when it was made available on September 26? Let un know in the comment section below.

The official synopsis for Blue Beetle reads, "Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the super hero Blue Beetle."

I'll laugh if The Marvels somehow makes less than this. Also I liked the family dynamic in this movie more 🤷‍♂️

@AmazingFILMporg -

It was not very good, and the CGI was terrible.

Gunn keeping things like this for the new DCU is a big mistake.

Speaking of box office bombs, I've got a free showing of Captain Marvel 2 in 3D with effects lined up. Watching it like a theme park attraction, as intended :p

Barring any more changes we have 1 mcu movie 1 dcu movie and 3 Sony verse movies next year lol Sony gotta carry the genre

@MyCoolYoung - It’s a safe bet that Madame Web and Kraven will both perform poorly.

@mountainman - you think venom has a chance? Lol I think in today's climate CBMs need a run of objectively great movies to bring it back to churning out good numbers.

Out of all the Sony movies the only one I'm curious about is madame Webb honestly.

@MyCoolYoung - I guess Venom 2 did have a lot lower BO than the first one, so yeah the third may also struggle.

Madame Web is the unknown. I just don’t see it being a big hit, even if it somehow manages to be good.

@mountainman - oh no it's definitely not going to be a hit. Deadpool and joker are the only ones that will do well next year

@MyCoolYoung - Joker probably won’t do as good as the first one, but it’ll still do really well.

Deadpool 3, as long as it is produced well, should clear a billy.

@MyCoolYoung - I'm kinda surprised Marvel Studios didn't put Brave New World in November or December instead.

That aside, I actually kinda look forward to Madame Web and Kraven. The former has such an odd premise, I kinda wanna see that. Dumb as the premise sounds, atleast a CBM hasn't tried doing Terminator before.

@bkmeijer1 - this is true. I think Aaron Johnson is going to do well in the role similar to Tom hardy. Will the movie be any good? I hope so.

Madame Webb has potential. I just honestly don't know what Sony is doing with their universe

@MyCoolYoung - I have no idea what they're doing either. And for some reason, it's kinda refreshing in a way.

This was a silly at times fun movie with awful CGI. 2/5 stars. Rewatchability factor = ZERO.

I guess he has a point as to why it needed to be on the big screen, but I also guess the marketing department didn't see that point. Or didn't see any point to promote it really.

Anyway, I'm kinda surprised it wasn't on streaming yet.

Yeah!...because the film benefited from low expectations.
