CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD Trailer Hides The Movie's True Villain In Plain Sight - SPOILERS

The first trailer for Captain America: Brave New World is packed full of big reveals, including our first look at the movie's real big bad (move over, Red Hulk). See if you spotted him after the jump...

There were lots of big talking points in the first teaser for Captain America: Brave New World, including some noteworthy changes from the CinemaCon trailer which have likely been removed for one of two reasons.

The first is that Marvel Studios didn't want to give too much away in this sneak peek; at CinemaCon, President Ross was shown asking Sam Wilson to "rebuild The Avengers" and Isaiah Bradley attempted to assassinate the Commander-in-Chief after Winter Soldier-style brainwashing was activated.

The second possibility is that those plot beats have been taken out, alongside the Serpent Society according to social media's many scoopers, as a result of recent reshoots.

We'll have to wait and see, but one key character thankfully remains: The Leader.

While we'd imagine most of you picked up on this (it's pretty hard to miss), the Captain America: Brave New World trailer features not one, but two glimpses of the iconic Hulk villain.

Subtitles for the sneak peek confirm the shadowy figure below is Samuel Sterns, while we're also pretty sure that's also him at the White House taking a photo...if the green hand is any indication, anyway. One thing we can say based on what we see here is that The Leader's comically large head isn't quite some the same scale as his comic book counterpart!

So, is Sterns the movie's true villain? If you're familiar with the source material, then you'll know he creates Red Hulk and that he has a penchant for making Super Soldiers (something we've already seen in the MCU). Perhaps Ross kept him locked up in the laboratory we see elsewhere in the trailer and he's now out to make him pay?

Take a closer look at Captain America: Brave New World's take on The Leader below.

The movie is directed by Julius Onah and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore. Louis D’Esposito and Charles Newirth serve as executive producers.

It's Nelson playing the leader in this that gives me the most hope. Plus he said it was well made and looked to be good.... he had some high praise, I want to believe it

I think the film will be MCU good. The fact that they made sure
To show Giancarlo Esposito in the trailer says a lot. It’s the MCU tho I know after Deadpool /Wolverine releases and I’m sure will be successful, it’ll be right back to that MCU can do no wrong,. This was all apart of Kevin Feige plan type deal. Let me say I think this movie will return to the MCU form and will be MCU good as far as ok let’s see what happens next in the Avengers.

It definitely looks like a continuation of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier which can be a good or a bad thing. One of the issues with Multiverse of Madness was that a lot of the general audience did not watch Wandavision. So this movie has to make sure it gives the audience an explanation for those who haven't watched the show.

@SonOfAGif - I always loved it, but I remember a lot of folks only liking The First Avengers in retrospective, and there’s still those who talk it down. This might be the case for FATWS. And there’s the fact that show was plagued with difficulties due to COVID that people like to forget.

@SonOfAGif - i personality hated TFaTWS. Writing and villains were awful. Wasted Zemo. Buckys arc was the only good thing in the show..

Anyways I hope this movie is good, I do, but I have low expectations going into it

Honestly, after watching the trailer a few times, I must say I'm a little underwhelmed. I really wish it to succeed but...well. We`ll see.
Oh and by the way: I was going to buy a ticket just to see SETH freakin' ROLLINS as the COBRA. Seriously. But i hear they cut his scenes? What a Bummer.

I'm guessing The Leader is gonna bait China and the USA into war around Tiamut, and the latter into creating super soldiers. Ross himself is turned early on, with only Isaiah knowing at that point (hence the assassination attempt).

Don't know how Esposito's character fits in, but I bet he joins Sam in the end.

@bkmeijer1 - How do you get more funding for super secret military research stuff like one for Super Soldier Serum, ensure there is a big military threat, so it could track.

We'll see with Isaiah, could be he knows but to me feels unlikely however could also be to assist moving pieces into place such as a VP that is connected to the Leader or more malleable thus may still be a mind control thing as part of the leaders plan (plus a way to make it possible to administer the Red Hulk Serum to Ross).

@Apophis71 - yeah, an external threat (especially if they get their hand on adamantium) is definitely a reason to get more buff too.

And yeah it could be mind control, but I feel that's too predictable. Rather see him get a more active role himself rather than one being imposed on him.

The Isiah thing is going to be him triggered by something to attack like how they did it with Bucky I’m guessing.

And I pointed out the second shot of what I thought was the Leader taking a picture on Reddit and told that wasn’t him haha. Glad others say it’s him too.

@thedrudo - Could see them having a staff member or two in on the plan that sneaks the trigger words into Ross's prepared speach.

@SuperCat - there's a chair behind him. Much like the one winter soldier sat in when they would mind wipe him. Or one someone would sit in to get an injection. And those electric rods are used to subdue. I don't want to assume too much but perhaps sam is in the room that Ross becomes Rulk

Based on the trailer, I assumed President Ross was going to be the villain.
AlexGSpeaks
AlexGSpeaks - 7/13/2024, 11:48 AM
@theFUZZ008 - feel like Ross won't be the villain willingly. Probably just an out of control Hulk (like Banner in the first Avengers on the Helicarrier) who might even end up helping Sam once Sam gets him under control. Ford is supposed to be in the Thunderbolts film too. No word if he is still President or part of the team.

I think we’ve got a good one here. Acting cast is top-notch and it seems to have a good vibe.

thedrudo - 7/13/2024, 10:22 AM
@SummersEssex - Agreed. Mackie and Ford together looks like a blast. TBN back as the Leader is dope. Looks like it could be a great thriller similar to Winter Soldier.

Even with all of the reshoots, I’m guessing this turns out okay because it feels like Marvel is trying to right the ship and listen more to what fans want.

I think with Deadpool and this, we’ll get two solid MCU movies in a row.

US govt is the real villain in Captain America stories.

TheVisionary25 - 7/13/2024, 10:53 AM
I’m sure some have issues with the Leaders head being not as large as it is in the comics which is fair..

However given the tone of the film , it could come across as unintentionally comical hence i can understand for a lack of a better word “grounding” it a bit.

Anyway , it’s crazy that almost 17 years after TIH that we are getting Sterns on screen again as the main villain this time around!!.

They missed an opportunity to lean into the Multiverse saga by making the villain Chris Evans as Hydra-cap.

@TheIronDuck - I still think there’s a possibly of us getting him in Secret Wars as that variant

Having Evans as a villain going up Sam who is his variants successor is just too good to pass up.

Just imagine a similar scene like this…

@TheIronDuck - This movie is already going to fail.

Do you want it to also be reviled like no other movie in recent history by having DEI Captain America who is super awesome without ever having taken the super soldier serum which is absolutely ridiculous go and beat Real But Evil Captain America?

"Not a great plan."

I know Harrison Ford is old enough to be in a nursing home, or president (same thing) and is just getting his paycheck, which is fine.
He's already referred to this movie as a "piece of shit" and obviously will sleepwalk through his scenes as he has for the past decade plus.

I just wonder, with all his money, why would he pick one of his last roles to be an 80 year old man who turns into a cgi rage monster?

@Feralwookiee - to be fair, that man doesn't seem to like 90% of the roles he takes. On talk shows he acts like people force him to be in these films. It's odd.

@AlexGSpeaks - Oh yeah.
He's always been a grumpy prick, but he's only gotten moreso as he's gotten older.

He has all the money in the world. Why keep taking these roles if it really makes you miserable? Smh
