We know that Tim Blake Nelson will return as the Leader for Captain America: New World Order, while General "Thunderbolt" Ross (Harrison Ford) and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) are also expected to make life difficult for Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie). Now, a new rumor is claiming that Cap is going to have even more to contend with than we realized.
According to insider MyTimeToShineHello, Jessica Chastain (X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Zero Dark Thirty) is being eyed to play the "main villain" of the upcoming sequel. There's already a lot of speculation that said baddie could be The Red Skull's daughter, Sin, but apparently the character is "not who you think."
MTTSH goes on to clarify that New World Order will actually feature five villains, but declines to reveal the other two (which could well mean they simply don't know).
The source has shared some solid intel in the past, but we obviously shouldn't read too much into this for the time being. Even if Chastain is being looked at to play this mysterious villain, there's nothing to say she'll end up in the role. If there is any truth to the rumor and the actress does sign on the dotted line, expect the trades to weigh in at some point.
Captain America: New World Order will also star Shira Haas as Israeli superheroine Sabra, the returning Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, and Danny Ramirez as the new Falcon. The movie is set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.
