John Krasinski Wants To Play A MARVEL Villain After Losing CAPTAIN AMERICA Role

For those who don’t know, John Krasinski was among the several actors who were being considered for the role of Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger back in 2010. And though that coveted part evidently went to Chris Evans, Krasinski was recently asked whether or not he would still be interested in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Especially considering the actor has made the leap from comedies to action movies with Michael Bay’s recently-released 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi adaptation.

“I’ll take a Marvel movie anytime,” Krasinki told Digital Spy while promoting 13 Hours. “I love watching them, so I’d love to be a part of it.” The actor then began to reflect, for the first time, on his missed opportunity to play the Sentinel of Liberty. “The Captain America thing was hilarious. As much as I had fun doing it… I definitely got to wear the suit, I screen-tested and all those things. And I signed my life away that I wouldn’t even talk about it, so they’re going to kill me now; Thanks. But as soon as I heard that Chris [Evans] was considering it, I applauded. Chris is a good friend, and very very good at what he does, so I was so happy to see him do it. Maybe now I have to play a villain where I fight Chris. That’s what we need to do.” Who do you think John Krasinski could play?

Also another great movie, No Escape, where Owen Wilson was also great as a dramatic actor.

I like it when primarily comedy actors surprise me like that

I'm too used to him being Jim from the office, It'd be weird seeing be a super-villain.

You're too good for a Marvel Villain, Krasinski. Marvel movies are great, but they waste the talent when it comes to villains. Don't be a hit-it-and-quit-it character.

@Earthbound - While I never had a real problem with the villains of the MCU (but they're usually just okay, nothing special.) John is an extremely talented actor. I feel like casting him as Hal Jordan uses his talent more, than being a one-off villain.

@BatmanHeisenberg -

If he can be a villain in caliber and depth that Bucky's had (Thank you Russo brothers) then yes, he'd be great.

Thing is i don't think there's anyone deserving of his time and talent left.

Cap is taken by Evans (and don't get me wrong, he's great as Steve Rogers) Bucky's taken by Sebastian Stan, we haven't seen his performance yet but given the Russo's directing track record, and the actor they chose Baron Zemo will be great, and Both versions of Antman are spoken for. All the main tear of Marvel Heroes is now used up with only lesser known/and or important characters left.

Hence I think Jim's honestly more suited to play a DC hero if anyone.

I'd prefer him for Hal Jordan.
