And THIS is the EXACT reason why Marvel and Joe Johnston got rid of any swastikas on the Red Skull or German "troops" that Cap will be fighting.

They can't have Nazi imagery on TOYS or anything else that they want to sell for this f.uckin' movie! I'm sure they've come up with an absolute TON of tacky s.hit with Chris Evans' face all over it and he will be fighting Hydra in every, single description. Not Nazis.

I'll bet you that they really didn't even want to do this movie for this very reason. "Well, how the hell can we sell toys and s.hit if he's just fighting Nazis?!? No f.uckin' parent is going to buy their kid a Nazi action figure!" Of course, because Nazis didn't exist and weren't trying to take over the entire planet...Let's just ignore the history of evil.

Being the greedy f.ucks that they are, Marvel wouldn't allow it and a different WWII enemy was conceived because die-hard fans would have hit the roof, if Cap's first movie wasn't an origin story set back in the 40's. So, they get this out of the way and hope that no one will really care.

This film, which is looking more and more that it will be campy after all, might have some Nazi imagery in it, in the background if anything, but it will be irrelevant because they will spend so much time focusing on Hydra, you will almost forget you're watching a WWII film.

Marvel, in order for you to sell merchandise, you truly have ruined the history of one of your beloved characters. And that is a slap in the face to Joe Simon, Jack Kirby and everyone else that has worked on this character and grew up with Captain America.

Oh, and for the record, this Red Skull toy just looks constipated, not a like a supposed diabolically evil genius.

Your point about not selling Nazi toys is a good one, but it doesn't mean they don't exist in this movieverse

BloodRed You make some good points. But I see why MARVEL has to do that. It sucks that fictional evil groups takes presedents over actual ones, but just think about how confused people would be to see a kid holding on to a Nazi Soldier action figure.

Reminds me of Kroenen in his Nazi duds from the first Hellboy film.
