Marvel's Title Ruse Revealed For CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

Marvel's Title Ruse Revealed For CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

Scheduled for temporary use during the sequel's production, the working title for Captain America: The Winter Soldier has been revealed + a word on the screen test of a recent cast addition.

Marvel Studios made the announcement last month that they're returning to Cleveland, Ohio, to commence principal photography for their forthcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie. While also expected to shoot partly in Washington, DC and New Mexico, don't expect to the actual movie title to be used once filming does actually start next year, in March.

And like all major productions, and Marvel's past flicks, a temporary name or production title will be used to disguise The Winter Soldier's development. And according to Feature Film Casting, whose legitimacy seems dependable only when it comes to new productions starting out, “Freezerburn” has been decided for the Captain America sequel's working title. Special thanks to @Jasper_UTF.

Seemingly an offhand nod to the film's subtitle, “Freezerburn” follows title ruses like Thor: The Dark World's “Thursday Mourning,” Iron Man 3's “Caged Heat,” Marvel's The Avengers's “Group Hug,” and the original Captain America movie's “Frostbite.” Anyhow, the film's cast was recently rounded out by End of Watch actor Frank Grillo, whose screen test “made the other actors look like extras,” according to ‘a friend of a friend’ of The A-Team director, Joe Carnahan.

Described as a political thriller, Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where the highly anticipated film “Marvel’s The Avengers” leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D, and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world. Starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Cobie Smulders with Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and is based on Marvel's classic Super Hero Captain America, who first appeared on the pages of “Captain America Comics” (#1) in March, 1941. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is presented by Marvel Studios. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing & Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso & Stan Lee are executive producers. The film releases August 1, 2014, & is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Man this guy's gonna be great as Crossbones... I saw End of Watch last week and wow; I'll be honest, I'm not familiar with Frank's work so I didn't know he was playing Sarge till I saw the credits/imdb. Some solid piece of acting there, he put a sense of realism and extended what the movie already had.

This Cap movie has a lot going for it. Hope the Russo Bros nail it with all the potential this has.

I've been waiting for a present-day cap movie for a long time. I really hope this pulls through...if so, it could be the best of Phase 2

This Movie sounds like a convoluted mess aka the next IM2. Bucky’s importance to Cap’s psyche was already underplayed and the impact of his death as well as the scene glossed over, you think they would keep the focus on him w/o all this unnecessary sub plots. We are in store for an under developed Falcon. An under developed An underdeveloped Sharon Carter. An under developed CrossBones. And under developed Main Antagonist.

It would be wiser to save Bucky’s return for Cap 3 and develop a strong relationship between Falcon and Cap first. Then have Bucky return in full anger in vengeance mode. Or we can throw everything in the pot at once and call it gumbo.

I like gumbo
Pretty much anything a Cajun cook puts his hands too is good.
Gambit would know.

I don't think it's accurate to say that he ROUNDED OUT the cast. Far from it. They still haven't cast Sharon Carter and there's still a villain role up for grabs between Josh Holloway and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau with Waldau the frontrunner and the role is rumored to be Baron Zemo. And considering Crossbones has been cast its logical to say Sin might get cast soon as we'll.

I for one, actually enjoyed IM 2. But I can understand why some of you didn't think fond of it... I can go with that. But with Phase 2, seeing as Marvel's going all out, you know they'll be upping there game.

The problem with some of the Phase 1 movies were basically the character development, which was imo affected by the run time, and you could all agree with me. Also, the action sequences felt alright but we were left wanting more! They were so anti-climactic. I hope to to be seeing some spectacular action sequences in this and the rest of the Phase 2 movies, please don't dissapoint Marvel.

We're so lucky to be getting this storyline up on the big screen, although I also kinda agree that it should've been hinted through this but fully unravelled in the third movie. But hey, this is gonna be an epic ride. You can't imagine how excited I am. Hopefully we'll have a longer run-time, a very strong script; and I mean VERY... You know this is gonna be full of twists and turns, oh and with flashback sequences - we'll get a more fleshed out Steve/Bucky relationship. Oh and did I mention action sequences??? This is Captain America for God's sake.

If Hawkeye isn't in this, they'll probably resolve the issue with a tie in comic, just like the War Machine issue between The Avengers and IM 3.

Lol. IM2 didn't suck? Half baked ideas not fully fleshed out. Clichè friend vs friend fight. Forced SHIELD sub-plot. One note villains. Boring villains. Another robot fight.

I can go on but you can read any of many reviews or one ofthe apologies Faverau, Feige and RDJ have made concerning that film.

Other reasons IM2 sucked;

1. Corny ass jokes. For example: At the end when Tony and Pepper kiss on the roof and then they see war machine sitting next to them looking super unintimidating- they tell him to go find another roof and he says "i got here first" and they all laugh. SHITTY.

2. It gets boring in the 2nd act!! Tony gets sad and buys strawberries? Seriously? He stares at Natasha when hes in Peppers office with an AH-HA! You are black widow! look on his face. BEATING A DEAD HORSE. He then conveniently creates a new element just in time to go stop Hammer and Whiplash.

3. Black Widow. She sucked in this. Joss made her much more multi dimensional and actually KICK ASS in Avengers. In this, she had stupid curly hair and her fight moves werent impressive and was poorly shot as well.

4. The movie should have been called IM2: We are really trying to just set up The Avengers.

IM2 was definitely lacking and poorly put together, but I thought it was on the same level as Cap. The first Cap was lame.

One of Cap's main characteristics is that he's a master strategist and a strong strong leader, and people are complaining that there's other characters in the movie for him to lead? Complain after we've seen something from it.

IM2 was still good but there was definitely areas where it was very much lacking and other parts that were kinda forced. I'm sure Marvel has learned from it's mistakes and will improve.

Captain America: The First Avenger and Iron Man 2 are the two under rated comicbook movies in Phase One. While Iron Man 2 is the weakest of the movies Marvel Studios has made so far, it's still pretty damn good. Captain America was and still is my favorite Phase One solo film. While the final battle wasn't all that great, I thought the rest of the movie was fricking amazing. I really enjoyed it. Alot of people thought it was bland, I honestly don't see how. You had strong performances, a solid script, a good villain and a good story. Alot of people probably were expecting more spectacle or something. I like how it wasn't full of spectacle. It had the romance, the battle scenes and the origin of Captain America. I thought it was really good.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Iron Man 3 and The Avengers 2 are my most anticipted movies that Marvel has announced. If you put them in order, it goes: The Avengers 2, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Iron Man 3. I think they'll do a good job with Cap 2. No one was expecting The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man to be as good as they were because of who they had directing them. The director of Elf for Iron Man? Yea, Iron Man surprised alot of people and Louis Leterrier with Hulk, I felt was another surprise. Transporter director for Hulk? Interesting choice but not sure if he fits. Proved wrong again. I think the Russo bros. will do a good job with the film.

Crossbones is my favorite Captain America villain, can't wait to see him kick major ass.

Red Skull wasn't bad at all compared to Evans's Cap. All of you are supporting Cap which I understand cuz he's a great character, but all of you know that Evans was miscast. Even if he IS putting effort into it, he's just not Cap.

He doesn't even remind me of him. Thankfully it was in the title and he was wearing the suit. Perfect Storm though.

EdgyOutsider - 10/30/2012, 9:26 AM
@toco89: I don't find Evans to be miscast as Cap. I thought he was really good as the character. People will always have an opinion on who they feel could've done it better. While I was skeptical at first about the casting, the movie showed his ability to act in dramatic type of roles and I think he did really good in the role. Hopefully, he will show more emotion in the character in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
