X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Composer Attached To CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER?

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Composer Attached To CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER?

While the Phase Two sequel is still in its pre-production phase, there a couple reasons to believe that Kick-Ass (2) and X-Men: First Class composer will score Marvel’s Captain America sequel. Check it out!

Although cameras don’t start rolling officially until mid-April or May, Marvel Studios’ first 2014 cinematic outing, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, may already have a composer attached. According to the devious Internet Movie Database (IMDB) and Crave Online’s rundown of Henry Jackman’s filmography, the British composer will compose the musical arrangement for the Anthony & Joe Russo-directed “political thriller” sequel. Responsible for the original scores of X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass and its upcoming sequel, Henry Jackman has also worked with his Oscar-winning mentor Hans Zimmer on several films, including The Dark Knight. Considering Crave Online’s offhand post, IMDB’s rep, and the fact that Jackman scoring Captain America: The Winter Soldier isn’t mentioned elsewhere on the internet, within Google’s reach, take this info lightly. However, if true, what do you think?

Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where the highly anticipated “Marvel’s The Avengers” leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D., and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world. Starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Toby Jones, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Maximiliano Hernández, Hayley Atwell, Scarlett Johansson with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed Anthony Russo & Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on Marvel’s classic super hero Captain America, who first appeared in the comic book “Captain America #1” in March, 1941. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is presented by Marvel Studios and produced by Kevin Feige and co-produced by Nate Moore. The executive producers are Louis D'Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso and Michael Grillo. The film releases April 4, 2014, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In addition to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel Studios will release “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

Dont trust imdb, but if true then not a bad choice.

I don't trust them either. It took them a couple years to figure out the two entries under my name were actually the same person!

But yeah, the only stuff he's done that I recall hearing was First Class, and that was a pretty sweet score.

Don't believe IMDB but CraveOnline mentioned that he was scoring Cap 2.

it's really interesting how many good things are going for this movie with directors that most fans have little faith in. A lot of people seem to be backing their "vision" and it makes me believe that they will actually kick ass with this movie. I hope the strong cast and now awesome score will make this movie great. Cap deserves another great movie.

Oh, I hope so. Now that I read more on his filmography, the more I'm happier.

Why would CA:TWS have a composer attached before T:TDW? Makes no sense...

He's done a much better job in First Class and Kick-Ass than any of the previous composers of the MCU did. If this is true, it's a great choice.

Jackman's FC score was utter crap, like the film itself. I hope this is false and Marvel rehires Alan Silvestri for TWS. Silvestri's CA:TFA score was epic and fitting to the tone of the film. The Captain's March and Star-Spangled Man were terrific tunes. And Silvestri's Avengers score was one of the best CBM scores ever.

Cool! The score from XMFC is one of the main things I liked about the movie. Great soundtrack.
@GizmoEl, I wasn't so sure about the directors for CATWS at first, but this movie has a lot going for it and I don't think they'll screw it up. This can be the movie the Russo bros prove themselves to be good directors. Plus doesn't anyone remember before Iron Man, Jon Favreau did Elf and Zathura. Look how that turned out.
@Killuminatic, Reznor wouldn't be a bad choice either. Music like that would fit with the whole "political thriller" angle Marvel is going for with this movie.

BTW Trent Reznor's signature sound doesn't fit Captain America's atmosphere.

I liked the score of First Class, but at the same time I couldn't help but notice that Magneto's theme sounded like a cross between the Halloween theme and the underground theme in Super Mario Bros.

"First Class" had a horrible score. The music beat the film into bloody submission and never seemed to let up. Loud, repetitive, and just plain infantile in its lack of grace and subtlety. Alan Silvestri is a true master and really understood the essence of Cap. If this is true, it's a real shame.

The score for First Class wasn't bad, but I hope Mr. Silvestri returns for the job. He has already established a memorable main theme and overall feeling for Cap. Maybe it's just a minor thing to almost everyone, but I hate when there's absolutely no similarity between the soundtrack of a movie and it's sequel (IM 1 and 2 for example).

BTW, and that being said, I also hope Patrick Doyle continues as the composer for Thor: TDW.
TheManFromMars
TheManFromMars - 3/29/2013, 6:28 PM
@DefcoN I agree. I would love that, even if Mr. Silvestri doesn't return, they would keep Cap's motiff. But, then again, it may not fit right, tonally, with this movie (modern times, a presumably more cynical take). We have to wait and see.

Fassenbender and Mc Avoy make the film!

Can't help but think this is going to suck for some reason, just can't put my finger on it. Well one reason could be the falcon, crap character, or that sh!ty suit. Bring back the first one.

MadTitan
MadTitan - 3/29/2013, 10:34 PM
i really hope not! the only thing i like about his score in XFC is the magneto theme. that's all and his score for GI Joe retaliation is mediocre and generic at best. i prefer a more big orchestral pieces for a score over heavy synth score without depth and pure banging without directions. either bring back Alan Silvestri. or go with Brian Tyler or Patrick Doyle. Or get someone from the games scoring biz like Jason Graves (Dead Space), Bill Brown (CAP The Game) or the duo from Arkham City game scores.
