Sam Worthington was yesterday's buzz regarding the all elusive 'Captain America' role. Today we hear from the other rumored star, Jensen Ackles, who doesn't sound all that interested in the red, white, and blue suit.

I saw this a while ago (posted by InstigatorGIRL I think) but I'm glad this has been put back up because whereas last time I was upset by the news, this time I'm not too bothered because I think I've found a much better choice...

"He's not gonna pull some dude off of CW and give them Captain America". My thinking exactly, it's a good thing he said it himself.

Captain America will most likely be someone who has experienced a level of box office draw. The character hasn't been established enough in the film community, like Superman has, to throw in a no-name or a small timer. So I'm sure to get buzz going outside the comic book community and into the general public they will look at someone who has been in a big film that the public would recognize.

Like a Matt Damon or something.

Anyway, I'm not really that bothered by it as much as I was. I still support Ackles as Cap a lot, but Matt Damon is my preferred choice now.

My vote is for Owain Yeoman. He is 6'4" and if he went blonde he could pull the part off, he is a good actor on The Mentalist at least.

Anyway it's not official that he is out, I mean if they came to him in the last minute and said: "Hey you wanna be the most patriotic superhero character in history?". I don't really think he would recline that, but I must say I think there are better choices to pick from, even though he is great on Supernatural.

This is pretty old news :P. I wonder how surprised everybody will be when they choose cap :D. I liked ackles for cap, but he's a better Hawkeye. You know by this point i don't realy care who's gonna be cap. I'll just wait and see.

@ Betty in Good Will Hunting which he helped write, his charater tells Robin Williams' character to read A People's History of the United States. Which is a BS history book written by a Communist author. The author of which Matt Damon was neighbor to as a child in real life. Matt Damon shares his views. And has spoken about them on several occations. Sorry but I don't want anyone like that playing Captain America.

I agree. He didn't "officially" take himself out of the running. It's not like he's being all Megan Fox here and saying the character sucks and would never take it. If he said something like that, then the title of the article would fit.

...but that pic needs a little bit larger eyes behind the goggles, a lil' bit o drool coming out the corner of his mouth and some food crumbs on his lapel (cause he cant feed himself)

on another note- Matt Damon is not exactly an adherent to "commercialized" Americanism... agree or not with his views but I cant picture a guy who spouts off about Howard Zinn and "A People's History of the United States" at the drop of a hat donning the red, white, and blue. I think that would leave a little bit of self-loathing taste in my mouth. More so than having a Aussie play an American. Just sayin...

Jensen Ackles cant be Captain America you need a a real Hollywood actor to play Captain America. Jensen Ackles Filmography aint great at all. plus Jensen Ackles giving orders to actors like RDJ and Don Cheadle in the Avengers will look order on film. Matt Damon as Captain America make sense.

Damon may have strong political views, but it doesn't make him any less right for the role. He can get in great shape, look convincing with blonde hair, be a bad-ass, and has great range.

@thwhtguardian- i agree he is a great actor, im being somewhat a-hole-ish. Bourne was great. Informant. etc. Since they going period piece and origin story for Cap and stuff... anyone tell me how old steve rogers was when he got the Super Soldier serum??? When he was frozen, etc? I not being a Nazi (pun intended) about source material but i cant see a 39 year old Cap origin. Jackles is too puny and effeminate. >=) AND Jackles would be a HORRIBLE Hawkeye (who comes up with this stuff???) Im with Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye. Anyone see 'the Hurt Locker'? No? GO SEE IT, then you'll get it.

I agree tyler, I mean if we were to start ruling out actors based on their political beliefs I think we'd have a very hard time finding an actor at all. Let's face it, most of Hollywood is very liberal, and Damon's views are hardly the most radical.

The thing is ray, he doesn't look 39, any more than rdj looks 44. It's Hollywood, actual age doesn't matter.
