Coming on board as well-known 'Howling Commando' comrade Dum Dum Dugan, fitted with this trademark bowler hat in Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger film, actor Neal McDonough recently discussed his admire for Marvel's approach to recent films and briefly on the role itself. Check out what he says!

Foremost, considering joining the cast a “blessing, just the greatest thing,” McDonough revealed he wore padding and “got to eat a lot of chocolate cake” to bulk up for his role as the full-figured Dugan.

“The problem with a lot of these comic book stories going to feature films is that, for me personally, it was never so much about the acting, it was about the effects or about the costume and techno fireworks. But then what Jon Favreau did with ‘Iron Man,’ to start, with casting Robert Downey, Jr. It wasn’t so much just about a comic book anymore, it was about a story—I think people forget that these comic books were about great storytelling. I think that’s what Marvel has returned to. And I think Chris has tackled Captain America in the same amazing way that Robert did with Iron Man.”

Captain America: The First Avenger focuses on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes and Peggy Carter to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull. Starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Tommy Lee Jones, Hayley Atwell, Samuel L. Jackson, Stanley Tucci & Hugo Weaving, the film hits July 22, 2011.
