I'm more surprised Mystique is there. If your going to
choice a pseudo hero from X-Men FC wouldn't you pick
Magneto?
m1312020
m1312020 - 11/9/2011, 7:09 AM
Thor also gets my vote by the way.The only competition in
superhero movies from 2011 would have been Magneto
for pseudo hero.

so where is Michael Fassbender?! - If Mystique is classed as a hero, in this film, so was Magneto!!

CAPTIAN AMERICA ALL THE WAY !!! i though thor was a good movie but CFA WAS AMAZING !!! MOVIE OF TEH YEAR ! EVANS DID A GREAT JOB!! cap u got my vote! and y is reynolds and mystique there before magneto?? really?
m1312020
m1312020 - 11/9/2011, 7:26 AM
Well I understand Reynolds being there you have to fill
up five spots in you don't want them all being X-Men.
But agree Magneto before Mystique.
You really shouldn't worry about Reynolds he doesn't
have a chance, but Magneto could have given Thor and Cap
some competition.

Captain America is the only logical choice here. Furthermore, why is Xavier even on this list? Raping and pillaging the minds of innocent people for your own amusement aren't the actions of a HERO, which is precisely why Xavier doesn't do it in the comics.

Evans and Hemsworth were good but I have to admit, Fassbender was amazing as Magneto. My vote would go to him if he were included.

getupkid - 11/9/2011, 7:29 AM
@spider & @unionjack, the only thing I can think is that at no point during First Class did Mystique commit a villainous act. Magneto put people in harms way, where as she did not.... But yes, Fassbender had by far the best overall performance in any CBM this year.
spider1489
spider1489 - 11/9/2011, 7:37 AM
@getupkid, yea i guess they is why magneto was not in the superhero category, because no matter how much we like him in the movie, he was not a hero .... sooo CAP! ALL THE WAY

I gotta give it to Hemsworth as Thor, i know many people have gripes about the last quarter of the movie, but he OWNED the role of Thor. I can think of anyone else who coulda done a better job.

I am just surprised they nominated Green Lantern for anything, I for one liked the movie.....didn't love it but thought it was ok. But after the backlash that came from it I am just surprised any aspect of it is up for an award.
dahamma
dahamma - 11/9/2011, 7:43 AM
And as for reynolds, i'll be honest, he was just OK as Hal. But whas bad is, outside of sinestro, he was the BEST thing about the movie, and thats not saying much at ALL
RyanLantern77
RyanLantern77 - 11/9/2011, 7:46 AM
McAvoy or Hemsworth. Green Lantern sucked, Jennifer Lawrence was pretty good as Mystique, and Evans was slightly above average as Cap

@WaylonJones Like I said before you have to fill up
five spaces. They don't want it to all be X-Men.

@EarthToOlu Yeah, he might be ok in some movies, but the story was sooooo bad they shouldn't have nominated GL for anything... lol... that's all I was saying... lol ;) btw you got my name wrong it's not superhero, it's superotherside
jjmeylar
jjmeylar - 11/9/2011, 8:11 AM
While I REALLY enjoyed all of the movies ((yes, even GL)), but I think that Chris Evan's performance defined "superhero" more than any of the others.

Chris managed to make a character named Thor, based on a comic book hero based on a wierd version of the norse god of thunder, very likable. He got my vote.

I'll vote for magneto. He was pretty bad ass. Loved the portrayal. But if i stick to whats asked then how about Cap. I really liked how he developed in the story although that damn montage (sp) of him capturing bases kinda hit a nerve.
getupkid
getupkid - 11/9/2011, 8:20 AM
It's funny, we discuss stand-outs in villainous roles so often (Ledger and Jack as the Joker, Fassbender and McKellen as Magneto, Schreiber as Sabretooth), but there rarely seems to be a hero whose performance shines throughout a movie to the point where that is discussed more-so than the movie itself. Think it's because villains tend to have so much more complexity to the character, or simply because the hero's performance is so engrained in the film that we tend to look at that as the totality of the movie itself?

@tea, well-said, sir....
JohnTom88
JohnTom88 - 11/9/2011, 8:28 AM
@getupkid Robert Downey Jr defines the film, heck the comicbook hero itself (Tony Stark becomes less boring). This year you can say Hemsworth and Evans doing almost the same thing.

Hemsworth
MacAvoy
Reymolds

Evans just didn't make me think "Captain America". I also thought that CA had the cheesiest action out of all of Marvel's movies (especially the motorcycle versus tank scene). He's the main reason I'll wait to rent the Avengers.
superotherside
superotherside - 11/9/2011, 8:47 AM
@EarthToOlu no prob... ;) Yeah, I agree he was ok as Hal... and the script was mostly at fault... still he didn't or more likely wasn't able to make the define the character like the other movies did for Stark, Thor, and Rogers... still he was good... kinda like Tobey Maguire was for Peter...
