Here's Why Nick Fury Called CAPTAIN MARVEL In The AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Post-Credits Scene

In the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War, we see Nick Fury send a final, desperate call for help before he turns to dust, and there's a very good reason why Captain Marvel's symbol flashed up on that pager.

Just in case it wasn't obvious, Fury simply called the person he felt was most equipped to deal with the potentially universe-ending threat Earth's Mightiest Heroes were facing.

While chatting to EW, Kevin Feige confirms that Brie Larson's Carol Danvers is "more powerful than any character we’ve introduced thus far."

“So that alone tells you that there’s a reason Nick hit that button at the end [of Infinity War], when he realized that they were up against something far bigger than they had ever been up against before. And having her on your side is hopefully going to change the balance of power in a way that they desperately need.”

Fury is aware of how formidable Captain Marvel is because the pair have met before, and the upcoming movie will chronicle their first encounter in the mid-1990s when the S.H.I.E.L.D. Director was "just a lowly desk jockey who’s never had any experience with extraterrestrial threats."

This is a mind-changing, attitude-changing moment for him that leads him to become the person that we know,” says Samuel L.Jackson. “He [now] understands that there are these other things out there. He understands that they’re not all enemies, and we do need to find allies who have specific kinds of skills that humans don’t have.

As awesome as it'll be to witness the origin of Captain Marvel, it should be just as cool to see how Nick Fury becomes the eye-patch wearing badass we know and love.
