Erik Larsen, co-founder of Image Comics and writer of Savage Dragon spoke with Comic Book Resources about his work, his relaunch of Alan Moore's Supreme, and the shift toward digital comics. One of the more interesting comments in the interview was when Larsen was asked about his thoughts on the new 52, if he was reading anything in particular, and what his thoughts were as a businessman and creator.

I really don't have any interest in what they're doing. Who cares? In five years time -- in ten -- it'll be wiped clean again. I just can't get myself to get invested in the lives of characters whose existence can get rebooted at the whim of an editorial directive or a writer with an agenda.

This is like McFarlane saying he isn't betting on DC to succeed, apparently Rod Liefeld is the only one who gave in after so many years of hating on DC to go back to them and work on a bunch of books for them. DC is where the money is at. I never read or seen Savage Dragon comic/toon but this character is once again unoriginal. He's hellboy BUT GREEN..WHOA!!! LOOK OUT!!!!! ORIGINALITY!!!!!*sarcasm*

@ComicCritic87

Savage Dragon the character debuted in '82, was first called the Savage Dragon in '86, and had his ongoing series debut in 1992.

Hellboy made his first appearance ever in 1993.

What were you saying about originality?

i don't blame ya,i'm a spidey fan & recent storylines & artwork hasn't been all that.

looking forward to reading animal man,swamp thing & batman when the trades become availible.

I get where he's coming from but come on, if you want continuity, read The Walking Dead or Ultimate Spider-man (Peter Parker). Everything else usually contradicts itself anyways.

"I just can't get myself to get invested in the lives of characters whose existence can get rebooted at the whim of an editorial directive or a writer with an agenda."

I agree 100% with that statement and can't understand just who actually does like to see their beloved characters rebooted every decade and the old ones wiped away clean.

Savage Dragon was and still is badass. I always liked the character and some of the weird stories he was in.

HAHAHA, Larsen spoke the truth. Face it DC

Gaston:

"Which is why I stopped reading Spider-Man altogether.

The character's entire history wiped by Quesada's greasy hands.

Spidey entire history wasn't wiped clean, it was just his marriage to MJ and the world's knowledge of his secret identity that he revealed during Civil War that was wiped clean, but that was a pretty stupid turn that story took.

Didn't Larson do a similar continuity reboot of Savage Dragon? Besides, the DCnU books are so much more readable than Savage Dragon ever was. That comic was one of the reasons Image was slated so much for being style over substance when it first began. Though it did have cool crossovers. Ahem.
