Yesterday, we saw a penciled version of Humberto Ramos' cover for the second printing of Dan Slott's very controversial Amazing Spider-Man #700, which sees Doctor Octopus taking Peter Parker's place as Spider-Man. The cover is a tribute to Todd McFarlane's cover for Amazing Spider-Man #300. Now, thanks to MTV Geek, we have the colored version of the variant for the final issue in the Marvel Comics series which began in 1963.

If this is what Marvel is going to allow to happen to Spider Man, I hope they never get the movie rights back

Could not agree more. Very glad Alonso and his retarded crew aren't involved with the movies.

What an unceremonious end to a great line of comics and a great character...

I would have embraced the idea of Peter being replaced by Miguel O'Hara (Spiderman 2099), but this sh*t? :(

Now I did read in a thread that someone speculates that Peter Parker's mind is STILL inside his own body, just that it has been overrun by Ock's memories and thus Pete's mind lies dormant, and in time MAY wake up!

If that's the case, then a psychitzo Spidey may be interesting to read about, but I'll wait and see...

Where the hell are those arms coming from? Clockwise from the top:

1. Apparently from the back of his thigh under his chin. And at least twice as long as the others.

2. This one actually continues past his ankle to the other side and comes out of [frick]ing nowhere.

3. Ummm. I have no idea where the third is coming from... Middle Earth?

4. His Ass.

Liefeld would be proud.

I'm not worried about this "shocking plot twist". As soon as sales start to slip they'll bring Peter back somehow, just like every other Marvel character that they've "killed off". Ock will figure out some way to transfer Peter's memories into a clone or something. Who the hell knows. If this storyline lasts more than a year I'll be SHOCKED.

Comments like this is how I know a lot of people talk out of their a** on this site, especially in terms of art. You clearly don't understand perspective. How is it terrible when there's nothing that would put Ock in perspective? And by saying that, you're also saying that about McFarlane's #300 cover. This is clearly paying homage. I get the majority is pissed about what's going on with Spider-Man, I am too, but there's a difference between art and what's going on in the story. This is Liefeld worthy? You guys are something else I swear.

Awkward placement and bad art are two totally different things.

This is good art, but look at where Batman's head is. Awkward placement yes, but that doesn't make the art bad.

Here is how Ramos draws Mary Jane:

@monkeyballs3
Ok I can see where you come from with that. Thanks for that, although I'll have to respectfully disagree. See I always see people here calling artwork bad or whatever without even saying why they feel it's bad, and I get frustrated with that being an aspiring comic artist myself. I get from most people that they say just to say it. And I'm not saying I'll always require some explanation (I'm a nobody here I don't deserve special treatment or anything lol, I don't think I come across that way though), I would just like to see legitimate criticism instead of just 'it's bad" or "it sucks." So seriously, thank you. But yeah as for the JL #6, I get the message in it, but that's what is called a tangent. As one of my teachers say, "Avoid contact with the crotch area when drawing." Haha.

@CaptainObvious
Oh, I've heard about this Mary Jane, this is my first time seeing it. Yeah that's poorly drawn. Eyes aren't on the same level, her nose looks crooked, same with her mouth but I guess that can be argued. She doesn't look feminine at all in that first panel. Spidey looks cool though.

Yeah I'm the same way. In terms of art in comics at the moment I think Greg Land on Iron Man is the worst offender.

Crappy looking cover for a horrible last issue. What sits wrong with me isn't Peter Parker dying. These days, that happens a lot in comics, and I'm pretty sure they'll bring him back. The thing that makes me livid is that they killed him in the last issue of ASM, a book that has been published for over 50 years. What dipstick editors at Marvel thought that the best way to end ASM's run would be with Peter Parker finally failing and losing?

Marvel doesn't give a fck.

Slott and Ramos should be out on the street begging for spare change.

Disgrace.

Where the [frick] are his arms coming out, is he wearing mouth mask or does Ramos not know how to draw a mouth?

I can do better than Ramos.
