Well if you believe the rumours Marvel are trying to "Tone Down" their use of properties where movie rights are owned by other studios, this kinda plays into that. Yep the event itself wil get some big attention, but after? They just removed, arguably, the most famous X-Man, one that the movies pivot around.

I have a feeling that Wolverine is going to stay dead for a long time. Imagine right when Marvel gets Fox's X-Men rights Wolverine is brought back to life.

When they reintroduce him in the comics, the X-Men will find him in an underground bunker being tested on by humans working alongside aliens to adapt his healing factor so they can try to cure diseases. It will turn out that he never actually died, but once everyone thought he bought the farm, his body was taken down below for the experimenting.

It will later turn out that the alien that was helping with the experimenting came to Earth from his home world to try and find the mutant that was going to kill the MCU...because his race loved those movies. The mutant in question is of course Wolverine. Wich raises lots of questions in itself, like, if the alien came to earth to kill a specific mutant so that a certain future didn't take place, why did he keep said mutant alive in a bunker for all that time instead of just killing him when he had the chance? Its comics, thats why.

Wait...all of that sounds Colossally familiar...

@Maxi91291 Please tell me you really don't believe that? All this is a new story line. Marvel is not cancelling or killing of any of the their characters from the X-Men or Fantastic Four because Fox has the movies rights As any one will tell you the comics being published have nothing to do with the movie rights. The only thing that will effect Fox or Sony owning the movie rights is them making the movies. I am sure if both companies stopped making the movies after a period of time the rights would revert back to Marvel as it did with Daredevil, The Punisher and Ghost Rider. I actually think when the last Ghost Rider movie was made there wasn't a monthly GR comic at the time.

Death is an opportunity....to capitalize on a popular character by killing him, make a few extra dollars for the corporate slogs, and then bring him back in a unique fashion, again for a few dollars more. I mean, YES, the story is completely meaningless. Oh wait, that's what you were talking about isn't it? Back to fingerpainting...

Characters die all the time at Marvel. Including many of the major characters -Spiderman, Captain Amerca, etc. Eventually most come back. To me, this is only a repreive so Marvel can use his return for a special event in the future to sell more books. Of course, people will spin it due to the issues between FOX and Marvel Studios currently. Perhaps there is some side effect with no longer advertising Wolvervine in the books but I hardly believe that concerns FOX in any way in their movies. The whole deal with Wolvervine dying is to allow Marvel Comics to use his return as another big future event. It's a marketing gimic.

He'll either be gone about the same about of time as Peter (year and a half) or until Wolverine 3. If they play their cards right, the first issue of his return could net enough sales to make up for one of the years he's been missing.

There is no 'maybe' about it.

Lol yeah. I wonder how many people on this site would have even gotten that.

Either way, even though Colossus' return was a bit dumb, i was still excited as hell to see his return. He's always been one of my favorite x-men.

I cant say the x-men will be the same without Wolvie, but over the years i've started to really dislike him, so a break will be nice.

The main reason Marvel wouldn't cancel any books in hopes of getting movie rights back is because Marvel still makes a lot of money off of the Fox/Sony movies. Why would they want to hurt that income?

Not to mention, their MCU is already highly successful with the characters they have. It just doesn't seem like its a priority to get those rights back...and Kevin Fiege has even said that himself.

Can someone please explain (without too much fuss) why Marvel would ever cancel the FF or permanently kill one of the most famous characters in their comics/films/merch just to spite FOX? It makes no sense to me and I think that it's completely unfounded... Untrue...
