COMICS: SPIDER-MAN Joins CIVIL WAR II

Marvel confirms that Spider-Man (Peter Parker) will enter the conflict between Captain Marvel and Iron Man in Civil War II. What do you think are the odds that he and Miles Morales end up on opposite sides?

Marvel's Civil War II will pit two factions - led by Captain Marvel and Iron Man at odds over the fate of an Inhuman that can predict crimes before they happen.  Captain Marvel leads a group that wants to apprehend the criminals before they actually commit the crimes while Iron Man leads a group that's adamant that punishment can't occur before the crime is actually committed.  Iron Man's stance is definitely softer than his position in the original Civil War conflict with Captain America.  It also brings to mind Robert Downey Jr.'s line in The Avengers,  "If we can't protect the Earth, you can be damned well sure we'll avenge it." Are the Avengers doing the world a disservice by not taking preemptive action or should everyone - superheroes included, subscribe to the ideology of innocent until proven guilty?

Civil War II kicks off the story in Marvel's Free Comic Book Day offering which hits retailer shelves on May 7.  Civil War II #1 will go on sale in June.

So....basically the plot of The Winter Soldier?

I assume this storyline is happening so that in a few years when they want to make a sequel to the Civil War movie and everyone says it's a cash grab, Marvel can cite comic book precedent.

Remember those spectacular crossover events when heroes fought villiains? I guess I'm just old, out-of-touch, and like lame stories.

@KrazyForKomix - Civil War (the film) better be the last film where they all fight each other. I wanna see some damn unity in IW

@MattBellissimo -
It's getting to the point that it resembles any cop/detective movie. They ALL include an inside man (forced or not), that is a traitorous mole. And we're supposed to be surprised. They think it adds "unique" and unpredictable tension. This idea that we are being fed a constant diet of heroes that use mega-battles to solve their internal problems, making us see how little they actual differ from the bad guys . . . is not inviteful any more. Now it's just boring.
Bring on BvS.

Are we sure its an Inhuman that tells the future?
And not that post-2099 time traveler that predicted all this would happen three years ago?

Weird that Iron Man would take that stance, given his first Civil War beliefs.

Also Spidey being on the side to catch the criminals before the crime doesn't make sense for his character. Bendis would know this better then anybody, nobody around today writes Spider-Man better than him.
