Otto Octavius is a man who cheated death, but at a price. When he exchanged bodies with Peter Parker, he gained the amazing skills of Spider-Man - and all of Peter's memories. Otto finally understands Peter's mission of greater responsibility.

Mayor J. Jonah Jameson had asked the Superior Spider-Man to supervise the execution of Alistair Smythe - The Spider-Slayer who killed Jameson's wife.

Moments before his execution, Smythe used his slayer-bots to free himself while healing and upgrading Superior Spider-Man's deadliest foes: Vulture, Scorpion and Boomerang!

With Scorpion hunting down Jameson and Vulture making way for the innocent civiliams, Spider-Man has made it his sole mission to slay the Spider-Slayer...

It just goes to show that Peter's life sucks, regardless of the continuity.

First they ruin 616 Spider-Man with "One More Day/Brand New Day". Then they kill off Ultimate Spider-Man, which was pretty much the best version of the character at the time. And now... 616 Peter is gone and Doctor Octopus is Spider-Man. If Sony kills him off in the movies, I'll officially have nothing to live for.

If people would just get their head out of their asses and READ this series, they'd realize it's actually pretty good....especially when you realize that, even though Otto IS a dick, he's actually doing a pretty good job as Spider-Man in terms of protecting the city...arguably better than Peter ever did.

And how he dealt with Massacre...

It's a GREAT story, Ock is not a morally better Spiderman and that's what makes him the inferior in the end. However, if Peter doesn't take some pointers from how Doc has been handeling things strategically.... he'd be a fool.

Very much enjoying this series. Slott can be a polarizing writer but he does provide entertaining stories. The art on this series has also been top notch regardless who's been drawing. A lot of fun to read.

I have been reading this line since the beginning and everything leading up to it and I have enjoyed it quite a bit. Yes I am still not 100% behind Ock being Spidey but as we all know it won't last forever. If you have read it all and dislike it well then that is completely fair, but if you have yet to read it and are just hating on it I say give it a chance and make an educated assessment of it not just hating it because it seems like the cool thing to do.

I'm sad to say this but Slott has managed to keep everyones attention...myself included...

Probably easier to swallow this though knowing Pete will be back next year when ASM 2 is out...

Until then I am enjoying this (god i cant believe i just said that)...

I like it. Doesn't have the legs to continue on for much longer but it's a pretty entertaining read so far. I wager the people complaining haven't bothered to actually read it.

HOTSHOT
HOTSHOT - 7/4/2013, 9:37 AM
I KNOW that Pete will be back someday. Till then, this is a pretty good read (unless J.J dies) with some good art. My only problem is that the main character isn't really likable. Ock plans ahead everything and geys away with being douchey. I can't wait for an issue where Ock regrets his actions after a failure (like Peter) then becomes responsible....till Peter gets back.

@TheAmazingSpiderDumb one reason (of many, many reasons) why that shouldn't happen is that we'd lose the Flash Thompson Venom, which is the best itertion of both those characters

I connect far more with Octo-Spider than I do with Parker. Like the villains say, he was a bully to his enemies, kicking their butts and hurting their psyche worse. Is it any wonder they hate him so much?

I like Octavius getting a chance to be a selfish hero. Face it, so many of us would swap lives with a super hero and insist that we could do it better and this is how that turns out.

I really hope Peter never comes back or at least Otto keeps the body he's in when he does. That is what usually happens. Someone thinks they're Spiderman and when the real one kicks their butt, they take a new costume and new name.
