If you read my review of the last issue, you would know that I pretty much hated it. In a nutshell, it gave us probably the worst portrayal of Spider-Man ever. It was.....it was just sad. I gotta admit, I haven't been expecting much from this series as of late, too many mediocre reviews. My expectations are low now for every issue. This issue came out of nowhere, I was not expecting a new two-part arc. An apocalyptic plot is nothing we haven't seen before, but I really like how it meshes with this story. Indeed, we finally have a solid issue here. (*SHOCK!*)

The story follows Peter, who goes into Horizon Labs. One of his co-workers tells him that he has built a doorway that leads to 'tomorrow.' He demonstrates by leading Peter into it. What they find, however, is a ravaged New York City. Peter realizes that he has twelve hours to stop this from happening thanks to a destroyed watch. Back in the present, Peter dons the Spidey outfit to try and stop this fiasco from taking place.

Again, this little arc came out of nowhere. It seems to be filler, just buying time for the upcoming Ends of Earth event. Thankfully, it proves to be a very entertaining issue. Dan Slott is back, and he definitely knows how to handle the character when compared to Mark Waid's handling in the previous issue. He actually isn't pathetic, more akin to the Howard Mackie run. Finally, he actually has some GOOD lines. There really aren't that many other characters that were the focus, only his partner, who was alright.

A very nice, detailed cover this time around. Gives a Reign feel. (Pretty good 'final' Spider-Man story if you haven't read it yet.) The art, while not great, is still a million times better than what we got in the previous issue. While I am not a big fan of the short white parts in the mask, it's still pretty good. The ravaged New York City has some nice detail.

Overall, a solid issue. An interesting concept, and a Spidey that acts like Spidey. My favorite line of dialogue was when he said "No. There is no small stuff. Trust me, a mall-time thief can change someone's whole world." Good stuff, very good piece of writing there. I saw a hint of how the character should be portrayed in this issue. While there isn't much in the action department, it remains an entertaining story. I look forward to Part Two.

8/10.
