There are many different factors that contribute to the popularity of Doctor Strange among fans. One of the reasons for this is that he is a complicated and multi-faceted character who also has a deep history. Doctor Strange, in contrast to the majority of other superheroes, who are typically portrayed as flawless or unbeatable, possesses a feeling of vulnerability and has flaws to his character. This lets readers relate to him on a more personal level and lends to the overall humanization of his character.

As the "Sorcerer Supreme", he is in possession of a vast library of enchanted spells and incantations, as well as a variety of mystical items and artifacts, all of which he employs in order to protect the Earth from a range of dangers and villains. This allows for a great deal of creativity in the stories featuring him, and helps to set him apart from other superheroes who rely on more traditional powers, such as super strength or the ability to fly.

In addition, the fact that Doctor Strange is tasked with defending the world against supernatural and magical dangers lends an air of intrigue and a sense of unpredictability to the tales his stories, which many readers find quite fascinating. Marvel Comics' X-Men who are known for their various "mutant" abilities. The superhero team was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, and they first appeared in The X-Men #1 in September 1963.

Originally the X-Men were conceived of as a metaphor for the civil rights movement and the injustice that was suffered by marginalized groups and underrepresented groups. Mutants are humans born with genetically based powers and special abilities that set them apart from the rest of humanity. Charles Xavier, a mutant with the ability to telepathically communicate with others, serves as the leader and founder of the X-Men. He is an advocate for harmonious coexistence between humans and mutants.

There is something for everyone to enjoy in their exploits, no matter how long you have been a fan or how recently you have discovered the team.

The popularity of The X-Men can be ascribed to a number of factors, including the rich and varied individuals who make up the team, as well as the relatable themes of belonging and discrimination that are explored in the series. Because each individual member of the X-Men has their own distinct mutant power, history, and personality, the group as a whole is one that is both dynamic and multifaceted.

Wolverine, who appeared individually on the list, is a mutant who possesses regeneration abilities and retractable bone claws coated with the indestructible metal adamantium. He is widely considered to be one of the most iconic members of the X-Men.

Other notable members of the X-Men include Cyclops, a mutant with the ability to project powerful beams of energy from his eyes, Storm, a mutant with the ability to control the weather, and Rogue, a mutant who has the ability to absorb the memories and powers of others through physical contact. The X-Men team and individual members have also made appearances in numerous video games. They have a devoted following all across the world.

One of the reasons people love the X-Men is that the narrative of the team centers on issues related to belonging and prejudice. This strikes a chord with a great number of individuals who, at some point in their lives, have been made to feel like an outsider or have faced discrimination as a result of their ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or other factors.

In addition, readers and viewers are able to see a representation of themselves in the plot thanks to the broad array of characters in the X-Men comic books and movies. There was a time in the 90’s that The Punisher had 3 titles. I think he has sold better than Doctor Strange or Deadpool.

@CAPTAINPINKEYE - Agreed! There are so many great characters that I had a hard time narrowing it down. Punisher will definitely make my "Ant-Hero" list :)

@NateBest - Unless Hal Jordan did a crossover...good list.

@CAPTAINPINKEYE - I agree. It's a shame that The Punisher sucks. No argument here.

@CAPTAINPINKEYE - doctor strange barely sold.

@OriginalGusto1 - I guess. I wouldn't have put the X-Men, and then listed Wolverine later on a list of characters. I'd argue Storm has had a hell of a run, quite a few did before Hickman's latest X run actually, and of course Cyke as Nate mentioned, but an ensemble on the list seems like a cop out.

@OriginalGusto1 - You mean the current Punisher comic by Aaron? Or the character in general?

@The1st - I'm way outta touch with current comic runs. I only read old shit that's been out for years these days. Damn...I'm so [frick]ing old.

@OriginalGusto1 - It's nbd. I love Hickman's reinventing of mutants and their struggle, but I still remember, more than anything, my cousin's copy of X-Men where Magneto ripped out Wolverine's adamantium. Hope he kept it.

@The1st - Again, I'm way outta touch. I just ordered Iron Fist: Heart of a Dragon off Amazon. This'll be the newest thing I've read since The Living Weapon (newest that I've paid for). So, I'm not a daily reader like I used to be.

Not a bad list, but a few points. Having a whole group of characters on a most popular characters list is cheating, especially when you have entries for individual characters of said group (Wolverine, Deadpool). Following that logic the Fantastic Four should be there. Plus, I'd argue that characters like Daredevil and Black Panther are more popular than Black Widow.
NateBest
NateBest - 1/2/2023, 6:53 PM
@Urubrodi - Yeah, it is kind of cheating... I'm tinkering with a few things and figured I would roll with it.

I know that there are a LOT of people who are fans of the Fantastic Four. For whatever reason, I've just never really been a fan.

Daredevil and Punisher are actually two of my favorites. Looking back at it, I should have put them on the list, but I don't know that they've actually been as influential as the ones on the list when it comes to pop culture...

I’m pretty sure The Fantastic 4 and the X-Men should be in the top 5.
They are some of the most well known superheroes.
I don’t think Black Widow is more known than them.
It’s Scarlet Johansson who is known lol

It is weird and good at the same just how popular Marvel characters have gotten. In the past I would never have considered any of them as anywhere near as popular as DC's top three. But now I do consider it.

This article needs an editor. For Black Widow, it says she was introduced in the late 50's, then it immediately contradicts by saying she was intro'd in 1964. There are a number of other errors, factual and otherwise.

One of the worst posts ever. Who is this guy anyway?

Great list, see the most modern character on the list is Deadpool but the MCU seems to be pushing new characters that nobody wants.

I'm surprised Silver Surfer, Punisher and Venom didn't make the list.

No villains? Dr. Doom? Loki is surely more popular than Black Widow. I feel like her presence on this list is more about inclusion. For the most part, I feel like the rest is pretty accurate. I would probably rank them as follows:

1) Spidey
2) Wolverine
3) Hulk
4) Cap
5) Dr. Doom
6) Ironman

Deadpool, Punisher, Thor, Loki probably round out the top 10. I'm 44 and am basing this off my entire Fandom from comics to movies.

@TREE24K - Villains should probably be a separate list.

1.Doctor Doom
2.Galactus
3.Magneto
4.Green Goblin
5.Kang The Conqueror
6.Thanos
7.Apocalypse
8.Mr.Sinister
9.The Sentinels
10.Doctor Octopus

Well I think that is probably my ten favourite but I love Bullseye,Sabretooth and Red Skull as well.
