MCU Canon

Primary sources for this list are the Marvel Studios movies themselves, viral promotions, and in future the Marvel One-Shot short films. Secondary sources are from the Home Release extras (Deleted Scenes, SHIELD Data Vault etc), the comic and novel adaptations, and the expanded universe comics. Tertiary sources are for anything else said to be within the films universe; unless confirmed otherwise (currently Captain America's tie-in video game which comics writer Christos N Gage stated as being in canon).

The List
Unfortunately, i don't know any good way to display such a large spreadsheet on here but for now here is an example image.

How you can help
I need your help here people; being only one man and going through all this content, I am bound to miss something. So please help verify and make sure this resource is up to date with everything we currently know about the MCU.

Quick note (as i am guessing this will be a big moan for people): Yes i have included the Captain America video game. This is because the writer has stated it is set within the films universe and had to make various big changes to the storyline to keep it inline with the movie (Falsworth not getting turned into UJ, Zola not giving up on his real body etc).

On the subject, I don't know if the Thor: God of Thunder video game is considered in canon like the Captain America: Super Soldier game or loosely-based like the Iron Man games, and being while since i played the Cap game i am not sure if i missed out on some of the Zemo family.

interesting stuff... but I know 0 about the games in with continuity I think all the games don't take place in the MCU just loosely based on it... like the comic books and novels... but idk for sure... i'd make this only for film continuity and forget the rest because I don't think it actually happened in the film's universe... but again idk...

November 2010, Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Joe Quesada outlined his plan to expand the MCU into comic books. He explained, "[F]or the uninitiated, the MCU [comics] are going to be stories set within movie continuity. [They are] not necessarily direct adaptations of the movies, but maybe something that happened off screen and was mentioned in the movie, and we'll tell that story. ... [T]he folks that are involved in the movies on the West Coast will be involved in these stories. It won't be like one of our comic book writers saw the movie and has an idea for a story. No, these stories are originating at the very top. [Marvel Studios chief] Kevin Feige is involved with these and in some cases maybe the writers of the movies would be involved in ... generating these ideas and then either just giving them to some of our writers or maybe some of these guys writing them themselves."

as for the Captain America game, until proven otherwise

Christos Gage: Right. Even though it's a Canadian company, I agreed to participate [laughs]. Marvel Studios approached me and asked me if I'd be interested in working on this game. I said, "Sure," and I went to Marvel Studios, read the script of the movie, cause it's set in the movie universe, even though it's a separate story from the movie story.

I see what you're saying about the video games but I am so wary about using stuff in which the player is the main protagonist dictating what happens.

So far I have generally see them as having been inspired by the MCU rather than MCU cannon.

again thats why i wouldnt include games like the Iron Man ones because they are obviously loosely based. However, writers have stated this one is written to be canon... unless future movies dictate otherwise

Plus storywise its extremely linear you dont get a different story depending on how you play!... its not Heavy Rain :p
