Marvel Comics Bringing Back X-MEN '92 For A Radical New Spin On HOUSE OF X Storyline

House of X redefined the place of the X-Men in the Marvel Universe, but what would happen if the version of these characters from the 90s set up home on Krakoa? A new comic book promises to explore that...

Way back in 2019 (when the world was normal), Jonathan Hickman massively changed the X-Men's status quo with House of X. However, what would it look like if the Krakoan age was ushered in decades earlier? We'll find out this April when writer Steve Foxe and artist Salva Espin reimagine this modern mutant milestone in the pages of the new limited series X-Men '92: House of XCII.

Mutantkind is taking a huge leap forward by founding their own nation on the island of Krakoa, guided by Professor X, Magneto, and a mysterious long-lived woman who knows more than she should, but this won’t be the story we know. Expect the unexpected as the action, secrets, and high stakes drama that made House of X such a game-changer are shaken up in a totally new way!

"One of my earliest memories is of buying a Garrison Kane action figure, complete with ‘snap-back living hand,’ so to say that the ‘90s X-Men comics had a big impact on my development is an understatement," Foxe says. "Getting the opportunity to pay tribute to such an important era in mutant history 30 years later is the definition of a 'dream gig,' especially with some of the wild deviations we’re taking from the source material."

"I started collecting comics with the X-Men in the nineties. The character designs of this era have always been the most attractive and powerful to me," adds Espin. "Those comics and the animated series made my imagination fly. We intend to pay tribute to that powerful era that was the 90s. The moment when superheroes looked better than ever with colorful tight-fitting spandex."

The first issue arrives this April, and you can check out the cover for X-Men '92: House of XCII below:

@Fogs - I disagree. The 90s was the worst decade for the industry by far.

@Visualiza - ‘92 X-Men is not responsible for the entire decade’s woes in all the other books.

I don’t like durian, doesn’t mean all fruit of similar size or color are bad.

@Visualiza - to each their own. I loved it. And bt that I'm not stating it was the best.

So, Disney Plus is bringing back the 90s version of show and now comics are bringing back 90s version of comic? Maybe a coincidence or maybe a hint at direction MCU X-Men is heading in

@Knightrider - certainly hope so.

@Knightrider - That’s already been done with the First Class movies. Feige doesn’t do retreads

@Knightrider - I agree that there does seem to be push in that direction as of late, but I don't think that it's because that where the MCU is going to introduce the X-Men at. Too much back story to pick up there. I do, however, think that Kevin's going to kick it of right with the real first class (either in the present or in the past or in another universe)and then build up the team, but so to be careful not to do decade skipping with each movie like with the Foxverse. I think that this current '90's push is just to bring more awareness of the X-Men's history to the GA in preparation for whatever they have planned.

jeez, they're really pushing this specific version of the X-Men as of late, almost as if some of them were to appear soon in a movie, most likely one centering around universe/reality hopping.
