Turini gives us a little more background on the process: "It was challenging to transfer Robotech design into a real world and display its fantastic world from another point of view. At the beginning I tried to create completely new concepts. Then I encountered a 3D artist Chris D. Shell's work and I found it perfectly in harmony with our intentions. I started to remake all the concepts on these basis - a very difficult and extremely laborious work. I really love Robotech and I admire its creators and I want to maintain the spirit of the series. But in the same time I wish to offer a new vision, that has its own artistic value. I hope I managed, at least a little... "

We also have a few Marco Turini's work in progress and early character sketches to share!

"This newer, more mature take on Robotech by Titan Comics will most certainly be as universally embraced and loved as the original series, and for good reason. The same themes – shared humanity, beautifully human characters, emotionally charged human travails and relationships – will once again thrill lovers of Robotech and certainly bring many new Robotech fans into the fold!" - Greg Finley, the voice of Gloval in the original animated series.

Robotech Volume 1: Countdown is available now! Written by Brian Wood (Star Wars, Briggs Land, X-Men), with art from Marco Turini (Assassin’s Creed) and colorist Marco Lesko, Robotech returns with a thrilling new tale that’s perfectly accessible to new fans, as well as providing a deeper layer of twists for old-school protoculture addicts! It’s been an interesting take on the show—won’t spoil anything, just know there are a few deviations from the original.

The original is the best cartoon EVER to me! I grew up seeing a lot of good'ol japanese animes with mechas and space operas. This one alongside with SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO, another classic.
