Jennifer Garner's Elektra is back and based on everything we've heard over the past few weeks, she may just be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the wide range of actors that are set to appear in Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated Deadpool 3, which will star Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) in the lead roles.
Now, Above The Line's Jeff Sneider has weighed in and, while he stops short of officially confirming it, does seemingly suggest in his report today that both Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are expected to reprise their roles as Professor X and Magneto, respectively. Later, in his weekly Hot Mic podcast, he added that he believed that most of these surprise returns are likely only cameos.
The pair are the latest former X-Men cast members to be rumored to return for the film, following James Marsden (Cyclops), Famke Janssen (Jean Grey), and Halle Berry (Storm). Channing Tatum has been rumored to appear as a variant of Gambit, while recent reports have indicated that Ben Affleck was spotted on set late last month to reprise his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil.
Loki stars Owen Wilson (Mobius M. Mobius) and Tara Strong (Miss Minutes) are among those expected to play a role too.
With the multiverse nature of the story, anyone and everyone seem to be fair game, but online scoopers have offered hints that the likes of Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Jessica Alba (Invisible Woman), Dafne Keen (X-23), and other familiar faces from the Fox X-Men universe will appear too, but since no details have been provided, we'll just have to label it speculation for now.
In addition to Reynolds and Jackman, the confirmed supporting cast consists of Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa Carlysle), Stefan Kapičić (Piotr Rasputin/Colossus), Rob Delaney (Peter W.), Brianna Hildebrand (Eloise Phimister/Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), Emma Corrin, and Matthew Macfadyen.
Deadpool 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 3, 2024; but that's subject to change with the ongoing WGA strike and the possible SAG-AFTRA strike.
