SDCC '15: First DEADPOOL Footage Has Leaked And It's Gory, Action-Packed And Hilarious
The first bit of footage from Deadpool was just shown (twice) and met with high praise at San Diego Comic-Con, and now a grainy low-quality recording and descriptions of it have surfaced online.
20th Century Fox just closed out Hall H and folks are saying the studio has won Comic-Con thanks especially to its first "hard-R" rated superhero movie, Deadpool. After Ryan Reynolds and the rest of the cast had took part in a hilarious (and foulmouthed) panel discussion, the first trailer was shown.
The Hall H crowd was so impressed that immediate chants of "One more time" had erupted, which prompted Fox to show the "bloody, action-packed" footage a second time. This trailer is not likely to be released online anytime soon, but someone managed to record and upload it online for us all to enjoy... At least until Fox pulls it down, after which you can read MTV's description below.
We meet Wade Wilson, who has just been diagnosed with cancer of the liver, lungs, prostate and brains, or, as he quipped, “nothing I can’t live without.” After a shady organization promises that it can not only save him, but turn him into a superhero, Wade accepts. But not without throwing some serious shade at Reynolds’ previous, poorly received superhero movie, “Green Lantern.” “You just promise you’ll do right by me so I can do right by someone else,” he says. “And please don’t make the super suit green. Or animated!” What follows is a display of violence and hilarity like nothing seen in a superhero movie before. Saying that “Daddy needs to express some rage,” Wade as Deadpool flips a car, shoots a single bullet through three separate heads and inhales the scent of his smoking gun. “I’m touching myself tonight,” he says, in the character’s trademark fourth-wall-breaking. We see three different modes of Reynolds: the face we’re used to, his totally suit-covered Deadpool face and his demolished post-chemo face. As T.J. Miller quips, “You are haunting. You look like an avocado had sex with an older avocado.”
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life. Directed by Tim Miller, while starring Ryan Reynolds (Wade Wilson), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa Carlysle), T.J. Miller (Weasel), with Ed Skrein, and Brianna Hildebrand (Ellie Phimister), the much-hyped Deadpool is scheduled to open in theaters on February 12, 2016.
