As a surprise treat during tonight's Oscars, Disney decided the drop the first trailer and a new poster for Mary Poppins Returns.

The follow-up will feature the ageless magical nanny (this time played by Emily Blunt) making her way back to Cherry Tree Lane to visit with the now adult Jane and Michael Banks (Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw) after the latter suffers a personal loss.

This being a teaser, we only see Miss Poppins right at the end, but we do get to hear Blunt's first words as the character.

The all-star cast of Mary Poppins Returns also includes Angela Lansbury, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, and Julie Walters. Plus, Dick Van Dyke is expected to make a featured appearance as Bert.

The sequel is set to fly into theaters on Dec. 25, 2018.

@IronGenesis -
Nobody cares about the Symbiote, they wanted to see the finished Venom suit.

@IronGenesis - She was shown. The Venom equivalent to it would've been if they only showed the umbrella or something.

@Saga - Perfect casting happened over 50 years ago. Lightening doesn’t strike twice.

@Saga - Yes, but can she win an Oscar like Julie Andrews did for playing Mary Poppins.

@RolandD - should i name all the actors that portrayed an already established figure or just ignore this silly comment?

@Saga - Who Heath Ledger and Jared Leto? LOL. Seriously, which casting of the joker struck twice in your opinion?

@osideous - You mean iconic, not just established? Oscar -winning? Stood the test of time for over 50 years? I didn’t think so.

@RolandD - Jack Nicholson and Ledger, both iconic roles. Leto on the other hand...

@Saga - I’ll definitely give it to you on that. Part of it is probably a mindset for me. I expect these comic book characters to be made over and over again or even James Bond. It just seems different with his character.
