A new trailer for Ralph Breaks the Internet, the sequel to Walt Disney Animation Studios' 2012 hit animated adventure Wreck-It Ralph, was released today and it's filled with all sorts of silliness and wild adventure.

Once again, the trailer highlights plenty of references to the weird internet culture that exists today; but, it also provides some insight into the deeper, more heartwarming message of the movie - one that director Rich Moore briefly touched on yesterday when revealing the film’s end credits song, “Zero," by Imagine Dragons.

“It’s a bold choice for an end-credit song because it’s about someone who feels like a zero, someone who hasn’t always felt worthy, someone who’s allowed his entire sense of self to rely on a single friendship. When that friendship is threatened, there’s a lot of insecurity.”

Accompanied by Rick Astley’s iconic track “Never Gonna Give You Up,” today’s trailer offers glimpses of Ralph’s insecurity and sense of self-worth as he struggles with his evolving relationship with Vanellope, especially as she seemingly starts to embrace an exciting new life in the internet. “There’s no law that says we have to have the same dreams,” says Gal Gadot’s character, Shank, as Ralph overhears. While Disney’s Rick Roll may be another popular reference to the internet, it seems there’s a deeper meaning behind the song choice.

Of course, the new trailer features plenty of hilarious references to the internet as well, including spam pop-ups, cats, and more. We also get a glimpse of the darknet along with Shank's wicked dangerous video game world, Slaughter Race. Check out the new trailer below.

“Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2” leaves Litwak’s video arcade behind, venturing into the uncharted, expansive and thrilling world of the internet—which may or may not survive Ralph’s wrecking. Video game bad guy Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) and fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman) must risk it all by traveling to the world wide web in search of a replacement part to save Vanellope’s video game, Sugar Rush. In way over their heads, Ralph and Vanellope rely on the citizens of the internet—the netizens—to help navigate their way, including a webite entrepreneur named Yesss (voice of Taraji P. Henson), who is the head algorithm and the heart and soul of trend-making site “BuzzzTube.”

A new poster for the film was also released today. It features the iconic symbol for wifi filled with tons of characters from the movie.

Ralph Breaks the Internet hits theaters November 21, 2018.

Looks good but uh...who's the villain?

@ThePeterCipher - I think it's going to end up being Yesss, but not in a traditional "villain" way. It actually might just be self-inflicted drama caused by Ralph's self-doubt that is the film's "main villain".

@ThePeterCipher -
In my view, it'll probably go something like this;

• Game controller breaks forcing owner to check online for a new controller, the game is shutdown as the owner is unable to find it via using the search engine
• Ralph wants to fix the game so he can return everyone
• They soon encounter Yesss, a search engine, who feels Ralph is untrendy
• They explore more and discover a more gritty racing game and have a race with Shank for information that leads Ralph to the Dark Web.
• Vanellope meanwhile has another race and a heart-to-heart with Shank expressing her desire to stay.
• Vanellope realizes that she belongs on the internet (as the internet is full of glitches so she is not treated as an outsider) and it provides her more room to race and more experiences.
• Ralph will overhear part of the conversation via a 'Back Door' from the Deep Web and coupled with the remarks about not being trendy, decides to leave Vanellope to her happy life
• However it will be a case where he did not hear everything and Vanellope will have expressed a desire to stay with Ralph and that despite enjoying the internet, she prefers her game.
• It would turn out that Yesss has been hiding the search results for the broken controller in order to try and sell the game which Shank is part of, the more gritty newer trendy racing game that offers more than the old glitchy broken game. A flashback would reveal that 'Yesss' was the search engine the owner used and that Yesss personally manipulated the information.

So the main villain would be 'Yesss'

@ThePeterCipher - It may not actually have a villain, just "obstacles".

@Benjamitesandwich

It actually showed story, some theme work and didn’t rely on nostalgia.

I liked this one a lot better than the teaser, too.
