The young actress seems to be hitting here stride as she matures the film roles are getting better and better, So long to the Nickelodeon fluff films she made with Selena Gomez and now onto meaty roles in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises and Sam Raimi's Oz: The Great and Powerful.

What can you tell me about Oz: The Great and Powerful?

“The project is so much fun. It’s a prequel to ‘The Wizard of Oz’. I’m working with an amazing cast, an amazing director. It’s so awesome, it’s just like the first (movie), but this one explains how it all happened, how Oz became Oz, how it led to Dorothy coming. I’m working with James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff and Rachel Weisz. I’m just having the best time!”

You play the role of China Girl?

“I play Wheelchair Girl and China Girl. Wheelchair Girl is in Kansas and China Girl is my main character, she’s in most of the movie. She’s really fun – she’s sassy. She lost her family when the Wicked Witches came in. Now, Oz sort of becomes her adopted father.”

What is it like working on a project of this magnitude?

“The sets on this project are amazing, it’s breathtaking. Every time my mom and I step on the yellow brick road we get so excited, we’re like ‘Oh my God, follow the yellow brick road’. It’s really cool working on a big budget movie, because without the big budget they wouldn’t be able to do the detailed sets. I’m really excited for you guys to see the movie!”

Joey, you mentioned the sets, which is interesting because the original Wizard of Oz was notorious for its elaborate, detailed sets…

“We’re doing the same thing as the first Wizard of Oz, we’re making it black and white in the beginning and then (it gets) colorful when we enter the Land of Oz. It’s also going to be a 3D movie; I’m so excited about that. It’s going to add a whole new level to the awesomeness of Oz. - teenspot.com

Oz: The Great and Powerful is set to release on March 8, 2013.

Official Synopsis - Walt Disney Pictures' fantastical adventure "Oz The Great and Powerful," directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum's beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot--fame and fortune are his for the taking--that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity--and even a bit of wizardry--Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.
