As Joss Whedon’s 2015 follow-up to The Avengers is expected to wrap up Marvel Studios’ Phase 2 slate, which consists mostly of sequels, its third phase is said to introduce the likes of Ant-Man and Doctor Strange. Although the latter adaptation is the only confirmed project without a release date or director attached, Marvel has apparently tiptoed in the casting stage. According to a “trusted industry source” of C.H.U.D., the studio is “eyeballing” actor/screenwriter Justin Theroux for the lead role of Stephen Strange. “There’s no word on whether or not he is the only name being looked at for the part of Stephen Strange,” the sources writes, “but I am told that there is a strong interest over at the House of Lee in seeing [Theroux] become the Sorcerer Supreme.” If true, this would reunite Justin Theroux with Marvel as he wrote the screenplay for Iron Man 2 back in 2010. Beyond his writing credits, Justin Theroux has starred in American Psycho, Miami Vice, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle and Your Highness. Considering Ant-Man is slated for release in 2015, we likely won’t see Doctor Strange on the big-screen until 2016. Therefore, take this info lightly!
