As previously said, I'm a fan of both DC and Marvel, though lean slightly more to DC given my preference for the World's Finest. Regardless, whilst I'm pretty happy with the output we're getting in terms of both companies' films, I'll admit every now and then they've cast a role that just hasn't sat well with me.
Long story short, for this cast I've decided to cast (most of) the primary heroes and villains of the Marvel universe, and essentially, who I'd like to appear in the cinematic universe, but for the sake of originality I've gone with completely different choices than the actors/actresses that have been cast already despite however much I like/dislike them.
Anyway, enjoy and leave a comment/thumbs up below!
The Good:
Jake Gyllenhaal | Steve Rogers aka Captain America
Notable Credits: Donnie Darko, Jarhead, Source Code, End of Watch, Nightcrawler, Southpaw (upcoming)
This will undoubtedly prove to be a controversial casting choice, but Gyllenhaal is an extremely underrated actor who has proven his talents time and time again. He’s capable of doing brilliantly with drama and comedy and knows how to balance and develop his characters very well, and in recent years, he’s even shown how capable he is with action and definitely proven himself to be a badass whenever necessary. Bottom line? Gyllenhaal would be a very interesting choice for the role, and certainly someone who could potentially bring something new to the table.
Leonardo Dicaprio | Tony Stark aka Iron Man
Notable Credits: Catch Me If You Can,
The Aviator,
Inception,
Django Unchained,
The Wolf of Wall Street
Dicaprio is an extremely talented and consistent actor; no matter what role he’s cast in, he always delivers and always brings something new, most recently displaying his humorous side with
Django Unchained and
The Wolfe of Wall Street. Despite his talents however, Dicaprio is a notoriously cool womaniser playboy; essentially, Tony Stark in real life- so personally speaking, he’d be someone I’d be very interested in seeing take on this role.
Clive Standen | Thor Odinson
Notable Credits: Camelot,
Vikings,
Hammer of the Gods
I’ll admit to not having seen Standen in too much, but what little I have has definitely displayed how fitting he is for a role like this. Standen is not only a very capable dramatic actor, but has the necessary kind of physical prowess for such a role, and as seen from his filmography, clearly has a knack for playing for Norse characters. As such, I think it’s more than appropriate in having him take on Marvel’s Thunderer.
James Marsden | Hank Pym aka (Gi)Ant Man
Notable Credits: The X-Men Series,
Enchanted,
The Box,
2 Guns
I realise I’m using this word a lot here, but again I’ve gone with another underrated actor. Marsden, though notable primarily for being overlooked by Bryan Singer and his comedic stylings, is an actor who consistently delivers with his roles, despite how lacklustre the films he (often) appears in tend to be. He’s one of the very few actors in my eyes that would perfectly be able to capture the duality of someone like Hank Pym and make a somewhat overlooked character more appealing.
Rashida Jones | Janet Van Dyne aka the Wasp
Notable Credits: The Office, I Love You Man,
Parks and Recreation
Jones is a very lovely actress who I feel would be an ideal candidate for a role such as this primarily due to her comedic stylings. She can play bubbly, sassy and dry humoured all very well, and would definitely help add the perfect touch of light heartedness to any serious outing.
Cillian Murphy | Bruce Banner aka the Hulk
Notable Credits: 28 Days Later,
Batman Begins,
Sunshine,
Inception
Murphy is another very underrated talent I’ve cast here. He’s an actor who definitely has a very cerebral quality to him and also somewhat of a subtle ‘dark’ edge- the best way to put it is with Murphy, I can’t help but think there’s something ‘lurking below the surface’, and frankly, that is more than appropriate for a role such as this.
Columbus Short | Sam Wilson aka the Falcon
Notable Credits: The Losers,
Armoured,
Death At a Funeral,
Scandal
Short had somewhat of a ‘career-boom’ a few years back but now seems to have disappeared from the limelight, but frankly, he is an actor who is definitely deserving of more attention. He’s capable of both drama and comedy and can handle action very well, and would undoubtedly prove to be a benefit to any ensemble.
Logan Marshall-Green | Clint Barton aka Hawkeye
Notable Credits: 24,
The OC,
Devil,
Dark Blue,
Prometheus
Whilst Marshall-Green is mainly (and unfortunately) known as a poor man’s Tom Hardy, he is still a very dependable actor. Whilst not necessarily someone to rave about, he is definitely someone who can play badass and tough, all whilst maintaining a very suave and roguish charm. Whilst, this might not be everyone’s ‘cup of tea’, personally speaking, for a role like Hawkeye that is definitely something that’d work.
Emily Blunt | Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow
Notable Credits: The Adjustment Bureau,
Looper,
Edge of Tomorrow
Blunt was the original candidate for this role, but quite frankly there’s no wonder why; she’s a very talented actress, and in recent years has definitely displayed her competency for drama and action. The fact that she’s as stunning as she is only further reiterates how appropriate she would be for this role and also reinforces how much of a missed opportunity it is/was not having her contribute to the MCU.
Jamie Foxx | James Rhodes aka War Machine
Notable Credits: Collateral,
Jarhead,
Ray,
Horrible Bosses,
Django Unchained
Foxx is another very capable actor I’ve cast here, who has proven his consistently in playing cool, collected, badass and entertaining all very well. Whilst, admittedly he is a little too charismatic for a role like this, given his chemistry with Dicaprio and overall talents, I think he’d be able to elevate the role very well.
Chiwetel Ejiofor | T’Challa of Wakanda aka Black Panther
Notable Credits: Children of Men,
Redbelt,
12 Years a Slave
Ejiofor is ridiculously underappreciated and a very genuine talent who’d be brilliant in this role. He comes off as very smart and classy, so frankly that is more than appropriate for this character, but like with Foxx, I think he’d really elevate the role and just shine as the ‘Black Batman’.
Sam Trammel | Scott Lang aka Ant Man (2)
Notable Credits: True Blood
My viewing experience of Trammel has been very limited admittedly, but what little I have seen has resonated with me greatly for him especially in regards to this character. Trammel is a very dependable actor and can pull of the underdog and roguish charm with ease and has a fairly accurate resemblance to the character too, so definitely feels like a very appropriate choice for this role.
Abbie Cornish | Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel
Notable Credits: Sucker Punch,
Limitless,
Seven Psychopaths
Cornish doesn’t appear to be on the radar for this role, but personally speaking out of all the rumoured choices, she seems the most appropriate. By all rights she is the package deal; a talented actress, very easy on the eyes and also legitimately capable of coming off as tough and badass- not much more can be asked for, and personally, she’d be very interesting to see in the role.
Rose Byrne | Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk
Notable Credits: Sunshine,
Damages,
Get Him to the Greek,
Insidious,
Bridesmaids,
Bad Neighbours
Byrne may be somewhat of an unconventional choice for this role, but realistically speaking, I’ve cast this role in terms of the character’s normal incarnation as opposed to her ‘super form’- that’s something I’d assume would be done with CGI, as presented like in
Avatar.
Anyway, going back to the point in hand; Byrne is a very capable actress and knows her way around drama and comedy very well. As well as this though, personally speaking, she just genuinely reminds me a lot of the character, in particularly the incarnation presented in the old 90’s Hulk animated series and this is something which I feel would just benefit her in the role.
Alex Pettyfer | Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver
Notable Credits: I Am Number Four,
In Time,
Magic Mike
Pettyfer is a fairly young and overlooked actor, admittedly he’s not necessarily anything to rave about, but for a role like this that’s not necessarily needed. He can play arrogant, cocky and comes off like he can handle himself; frankly, that ticks all boxes for me.
Alicia Vikander | Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlet Witch
Notable Credits: Ex Machina,
The Man from UNCLE (upcoming)
I’ve not seen too much of Vikander admittedly, but what little I have has been very informing; most notably, her role in
Ex Machina is one of the most eeriest and brilliant performances I’ve seen all year. Admittedly, the character doesn’t necessarily have too much in common with the Scarlet Witch, but Vikander more than proved her talents there and convinced me she could do wonders in a role like this. Despite her talents though, the fact that she is actually European just further reiterates how appropriate she feels for this role and makes me wish a little bit more that she was instead cast.
Matthew Goode | The Vision
Notable Credits: Watchmen,
Stoker
Goode is an actor who is somewhat controversially received by the fanboy community, but frankly, I believe he is the best choice there is for a role like this. He’s a talented actor and capable with drama and dark material, but I mainly cast him because of his role in
Stoker- frankly, there he perfectly displayed a detached, and cold quirkiness that I think he’d translate beautifully well to the Vision.
Justin Theroux | Stephen Strange aka Doctor Strange
Notable Credits: American Psycho,
Your Highness,
The Leftovers
Whilst Theroux is mainly known for his comedic talents and (unfortunately) his contributions to
Iron Man 2, it is safe to say he’s a very talented actor, most recently effectively displaying his dramatic prowess. He can play tough, arrogant, cocky and vulnerable all very well and is most definitely a versatile talent, so would definitely have been interesting to see take on a role like this.
Hugh Dancy | Reed Richards aka Mr Fantastic
Notable Credits: Black Hawk Down,
King Arthur,
Hannibal
Unfortunately this choice is not as unique as I had hoped, but it’s one that I’d really love to see especially given Dancy’s consistent brilliance in
Hannibal. He’s a really great actor who has come to my attention rather late, and just oozes intelligence; personally speaking, I think he’d really shine in the role, and prevent the character from coming across as boring as he did with previous iterations.
Maggie Grace | Sue Storm aka the Invisible Woman
Notable Credits: Lost,
Californication,
Lockout,
The Taken Series
Grace is a package deal for a role like this; visually she is a dead ringer but she also seems to encompass the characteristics this character is known for, and the fact that she has proven herself as being a capable dramatic and engaging actress just further helps things.
Hunter Parrish | Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch
Notable Credits: Weeds
I’ve not seen much of Parrish and admittedly, mainly did cast him due to referrals by other fan casters, but undeniably this is one casting decision that really fits well. Like with Grace, he is pretty much a dead ringer for the role, and likewise again, he’s mainly known for attributes the Torch himself is. So, frankly speaking, if that doesn’t justify this casting, I don’t know what would.
Eddie Cahill | Ben Grim aka the Thing
Notable Credits: Friends,
CSI: NY,
Under the Dome
Cahill is a fairly overlooked actor and mainly known for being a TV actor, but frankly, I think he’s perfect for this role and is one of the few actors who could bring some real heart and depth to this role. He’s talented with drama and comedy and knowns how to balance both equally well, plus if we’re getting really specific, he even has the whole ‘Noo Yawk’ accent down perfectly as seen through C
SI: NY, so personally I think he’d really prove to be great in this role.
Drew Roy | Scott Summers aka Cyclops
Notable Credits: Falling Skies
I’ve not seen Roy in much, well anything outside of
Falling Skies admittedly, but he left a lasting impression on me from his work there. I think it’s safe to say he’s a young actor to watch and definitely someone who’s very capable dramatically, so I think it’s safe to say he’d more than capable of doing this character justice.
Sarah Gadon | Jean Grey aka Marvel Girl
Notable Credits: A Dangerous Method,
Belle,
Dracula Untold
Gadon might not be a standard choice for Jean Grey, but personally, I think she’s the best possible candidate there is. She’s a talented actress and has proven he talents with strong and intelligent female characters in the past and obviously, is very easy on the eyes; personally, that more than qualifies her for this role.
Kenny Warmold | Warren Worthington III aka Angel
Notable Credits: Footloose
I’ve also not seen Warmold in much but with what little I have, I think he’d be a fine choice for this role. He can play suave, arrogant, charming and cocky all very well and is a pretty capable actor, who could potentially find his breakout role with Angel.
Iwan Rheon | Hank McCoy aka Beast
Notable Credits: Misfits,
Wild Bill,
Game of Thrones
Rheon has been an actor I’ve become very fond of since
Misfits, and since then he’s gone on to shine in pretty much everything else he’s done. He’s a great young actor and definitely one to watch, but I’ve mainly cast him here as I think he could bring some real depth to the role, and also bring a nice balance of awkward humour and drama.
Marshall Allman | Bobby Drake aka Iceman
Notable Credits: True Blood
Allman is another actor I’ve not seen in much, but to get down to basics, with his role in
True Blood, he pretty much played a ‘hillbilly asshole Iceman’. He proved himself to be a solid young actor, but also brought a lot of intentional and unintentional laughs and was ultimately pretty entertaining to watch; essentially, what I’d want for a character like this.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw | Ororo Munroe aka Storm
Notable Credits: Dr Who,
Undercovers,
Belle
Mbatha-Raw is not only very easy on the eyes but a very transformative and engaging young actress. No matter how small her roles tend to be, I’ve always found to give some great performances and have pretty much struggled keeping my eyes off her, given her exotic looks and her classy appeal. Whilst she might not be a typical choice for a role like Storm, I think she’s one of the few actresses who could actually do something with the role instead of just standing around looking pretty.
John Bernthal | James Logan Howlett aka Wolverine
Notable Credits: The Walking Dead,
Mob City,
Snitch,
The Wolf of Wall Street,
Fury
Bernthal as the Canadian Berserker is not too original now but admittedly, he is more than suitable for this role. Bernthal is a proven talent and truly shines with damaged and broken tough guys such as Wolverine, plus like a few other actors he shares quite a resemblance to the character thanks (in this case) to his rugged features and stocky build. Despite all that however, Bernthal is also an actor who can bring some genuine grit to this role given his past history with boxing and comfort with action. So, personally speaking, I think he’d be a fine candidate for this role.
Dylan O’Brien | Peter Parker aka Spider-Man
Notable Credits: Teen Wolf,
The Internship,
The Maze Runner
O’Brien to me, represents the ideal representation of this character despite how unoriginal a choice he is. Fortunately he is rumoured to be on the shortlist for Marvel Studios’ choice for the role, but to the uninitiated who may unaware as to why, it’s simple; he’s capable of both drama and comedy (the latter more so) and very much so has an underdog appeal to him and most recently effectively displayed his capability with action in the very underrated
The Maze Runner.
Personally speaking, with O’Brien, I genuinely believe we will finally get a comic accurate Spider-Man, essentially someone who can perfectly capture the ‘sympathetic nerd’ aspect of the character as well as the wisecracking adrenalin junkie side.
The Bad:
Tony Todd | Thanos
Notable Credits: The Candyman Series, 24, The Final Destination Series
Far from original, but Todd is an actor who just works for this character. He’s physically very imposing and has the right kind of look needed, but he’s also got the perfect voice to match and is fortunately so, a very gifted and often overlooked actor who also happens to have a gift at bringing larger than life characters like this to life.
James Purefoy | Johann Schmidt aka the Red Skull
Notable Credits: Rome,
Solomon Kane,
Ironclad,
Camelot,
The Following
Purefoy is an actor I’ll admit to having discovered rather lately, but he is definitely a joy to watch. He’s mainly known for his dramatic works but is also pretty well capable with action too, but despite all that, I mainly cast him because of his role as Joe Carroll in
The Following; frankly, his role there as an enigmatic and creepy death cult leader resonated fittingly well for me for this role, and makes me wish that he one day gets the chance to bring life to the iconic villain.
Ralph Fiennes | Wolfgang Von Strucker
Notable Credits: Schindler’s List,
Red Dragon,
The Harry Potter Series,
In Bruges,
Clash of the Titans
Now this casting choice is about as original as the sky is blue, but undoubtedly, it’s evident why. Fiennes is a really great actor and definitely a treat to watch when it comes to playing villains, and the fact that he greatly resembles the character and has previously played somewhat similar characters in the past further reiterates how suitable a candidate he is for the role.
Ken Watanabe | The Mandarin
Notable Credits: The Last Samurai,
Batman Begins,
Inception,
Godzilla
Again, another role that’s far from original, but given who I’ve cast as Iron Man, Watanabe despite being the ‘wrong’ ethnicity is very appropriate choice for this role. Ignoring that however, Watanabe is definitely an actor who can stand on his own merits given his capability with drama and character similar to this in the past. Whilst Marvel has had some controversy with this character, I do think it’s safe to say with someone like Watanabe at the helm, the character could most definitely be redeemed.
Jared Harris | George Tarleton aka MODOK
Notable Credits: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,
Fringe,
Mad Men,
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
Harris is a pretty overlooked actor who I’d like to see more of; he’s admittedly flirted around CBM roles in the past and has notoriously been fan cast in a wide variety of roles, but given his talents with cerebral characters, I think this is the most appropriate role there is for him, and would really love to see what he could do.
Harry Lloyd | Loki Lauffeyson
Notable Credits: Dr Who,
Game of Thrones,
The Fear,
The Theory of Everything
Lloyd is quite an underrated gem of an actor. He’s often over looked but is very great at what he does. As seen in
Game of Thrones, he’s more than capable of tackling a role like this, but also looks very fitting for the role too (minus the moustache), and resultantly, is an ideal candidate for this role.
Natalie Dormer | Amora aka the Enchantress
Notable Credits: The Tudors,
Game of Thrones,
Elementary,
The Hunger Games Series
What can be said? Dormer is a definite treat for the eyes and undoubtedly just oozes sexiness. The fact that she happens to be a talented actress just benefits her in this kind of role however, and it makes me hope that this is a casting choice that soon materialises.
Conan Stevens | Skurge aka the Executioner
Notable Credits: Game of Thrones,
Spartacus: War of the Damned
I’ve not seen Stevens in much admittedly, but for a role like this, acting credentials comes second to physical credentials, and in that sense Stevens is highly appropriate for the role. He’s a very big and physically imposing actor and pretty much always does a serviceable job with what he’s given; frankly, that more than qualifies him for this type of role.
John Noble | Cul aka the Dark Father
Notable Credits: The Lord of the Rings Series,
Fringe,
Sleepy Hollow
Noble is a really great actor and has proven himself time and time again, but for this role in particular it was his work in
The Lord of Rings that made me think he’d be a brilliant choice. He can play dark, creepy, despicable and cerebral characters pretty damn well, so personally, I think he is genuinely one of the few actors there are that could elevate this role and just help in ‘classing things up’.
Kevin Spacey | Ultron
Notable Credits: The Usual Suspects, Se7en,
LA Confidential,
House of Cards
Since his brilliant role in
The Usual Suspects I’ve been a fan of Spacey. He’s a very versatile and talented actor who genuinely knows how to do it all. The fact that he just genuinely comes off as intelligent and classy, personally sells the idea of him as Ultron to me, and makes me just think of what could’ve been if he was cast in the role.
Clive Owen | Samuel Sterns aka the Leader
Notable Credits: The Bourne Identity,
King Arthur,
Sin City,
Inside Man,
Children of Men,
The Knick
Casting this role proved to be a bit tricky, but with Owen’s more recent filmography, I can’t help but think I’ve found the perfect choice for this character. Owen is a pretty versatile actor who’s proven his talents in more than enough genres, but given his skills in playing antagonistic characters as seen in
Inside Man, I can’t help but want to see what he could do with a character such as this.
Joseph Sikora | Emil Blonsky aka the Abomination
Notable Credits: Boardwalk Empire,
Safe,
Jack Reacher,
True Detective,
Banshee
I think it’s safe to say Sikora is a character actor given his penchant for playing east European thugs and general thugs through the bulk of his filmography. Whilst admittedly, that’s not too reflective of his talents, Sikora has still managed to somewhat shine, and proven himself to be an engaging watch, and this just makes me thing if nothing else, he could bring some relevance back to this underrated character.
Richard Armitage | Ulysses Klaw
Notable Credits: Strike Back,
The Hobbit Series,
Hannibal (upcoming)
Armitage is another great actor I’ve cast here. The best way to put it, is he’s a classy badass. Whenever, I look at Armitage, I can’t help but think of ‘James Bond going off the rails’, and whilst that’s not necessarily fitting for this character, it just makes me want to see what he could do in the role.
Ian McShane | Dormammu
Notable Credits: Deadwood,
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,
American Horror Story,
Hercules,
John Wick
McShane is a very great character actor who excels in villainous and morally ambiguous roles like this and can definitely add a touch of class to proceedings. This is admittedly straight forward type casting, but it works, very well, and is definitely a casting choice I’d like to see to happen.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers | Victor Von Doom aka Doctor Doom
Notable Credits: The Tudors,
Mission Impossible 3,
From Paris with Love,
Dracula
Meyers is quite an underrated talent, who definitely has a knack at playing intense and regal characters. Whilst it could be said such a role may be out of his comfort zone, from his work in
The Tudors and
Dracula in particular, I'd say he'd make an ideal choice for the role.
Pedro Pascal | Namor
Notable Credits: Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe,
Nikita,
Game of Thrones
To some this will prove to be a bit of strange casting choice, but given Pascal’s brilliant turn as the Red Viper, I truly cannot think of a better choice for this role; essentially his work in
Game of Thrones pretty much was an audition for this role, and frankly, he more than excelled there.
Byung-hun Lee | Norrin Radd aka the Silver Searcher
Notable Credits: The GI Joe Series,
Red 2,
Terminator Genisys (upcoming)
Given the change in ethnicity for this character I can understand how this may be seen as a controversial choice to some, but frankly, Lee is highly fitting for a role like this given his past roles with similarly unique characters and his martial arts capabilities. Whilst this isn’t necessarily what the character is known for, to me personally, it works very well, and makes me think that Lee is one of the few actors who could do something unique with that character.
David Warner | Galactus
Notable Credits: The Omen,
Tron,
Titanic,
Penny Dreadful
Given Warner’s work in
Tron, I can’t help but think he’d be a brilliant choice for this role. Ignoring that however, he’s a very talented actor and definitely someone that oozes class, presence and wisdom. Frankly, these qualities undoubtedly make him that much more desirable for a role like this, and reiterate my desire to see him take on the devourer of worlds.
Timothy Dalton| Eric Magnus Lehnsherr aka Magneto
Notable Credits: The Living Daylights,
Hot Fuzz,
Dr Who,
Chuck,
Penny Dreadful
Dalton is a very versatile talent who would undoubtedly shine in this role. He’s an actor who knows how to balance and dark and light material very well and is most definitely capable of being charming, enigmatic and engaging as well being cold, calculating and despicable; frankly, to me, that more than seems more appropriate for a character like Magneto, and makes me want to see what he could do if given the chance.
Faran Tahir | En Sabah Nur aka Apocalypse
Notable Credits: 24,
Iron Man,
Lost,
Warehouse 13,
Escape Plan
Whilst Tahir has a previous history with the MCU, but given his talents I can’t help but want to see more of him. For this role in particular however, Tahir feels highly appropriate, not just due to his ethnicity but his resemblance to the character, and due to the fact that he can pull regal and cerebral villains very well. Whilst he may not be the typical kind of choice for this role, I can’t help but really want to see him take on this iconic villain one day.
Sharlto Copley | Norman Osborn aka the Green Goblin
Notable Credits: District 9,
The A-Team,
Elysium,
Oldboy,
Chappie (upcoming),
Powers (upcoming)
Whilst a little younger for my liking, Copley is very gifted actor and definitely someone who excels in unique roles such as this, so despite his ‘youth’ if he ever is cast, make up could always age him up a bit. Regardless, going back to the point at hand, Copley is more than capable of balancing his characters well and is definitely capable of handling dark and deranged characters too. Personally speaking, he’s one of the very few actors there are that I think could elevate the role and reinvent the character also for a new generation.
Timothy Olyphant | Anthony Masters aka Taskmaster
Notable Credits: Deadwood,
Hitman,
Live Free or Die Hard,
The Crazies,
Justified
Olyphant is a very badass and a very talented and underappreciate actor; there’s no two ways about it. No matter what I’ve seen him in, even if his role has been minimal, Olyphant has always been memorable and badass, and frankly, for a character such as this, not much else can really be said to be needed.
Jude Law | Kang aka the Conqueror
Notable Credits: AI: Artificial Intelligence,
Road to Perdition,
Repo Men,
The Sherlock Holmes Series, Don Hemingway
Casting this role proven to be pretty tricky, but ultimately Law proved himself to be the best possible choice in my mind. He’s capable with drama, comedy, action and also more than able to ditch his pretty boy looks and able to play creepy and dark characters very well. Whilst all these traits aren’t necessarily fitting for this role, it still stands as testament to Law’s talents and makes me think he’d be a great addition to any cast.
Lena Headey | Veranke
Notable Credits: 300,
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,
Game of Thrones,
Dredd
Headey is undoubtedly the ‘go to’ actress for strong female characters these days, but frankly, she owns them very well. She can play tough, smart, regal and badass all very well and in a role like this, I think she’s one of the few actresses who could actually elevate the character and make for a very interesting watch in the process.
Ryan Gosling | Johnny Blaze aka the Ghost Rider
Notable Credits: Gangster Squad,
Drive,
Only God Forgives,
The Place Beyond the Pines
To some this will be a pretty strange casting choice, but given Gosling’s brilliant and brief role in
The Place Beyond the Pines, I can’t help but think he’s the best choice there is for this role. He’s proven himself to be pretty badass and is definitely a talented individual who I personally think could breathe new life into this character, and just do something uniquely new.
Viggo Mortensen | Mephisto
Notable Credits: The Prophecy,
The Lord of the Rings Series,
A History of Violence,
Eastern Promises,
The Road
With his small role in
The Prophecy, Mortensen really stressed how great he is at playing dark and regal villains. Frankly, his work there was nothing short of an audition for a role like this, and given his talents and later filmography, I think he would be nothing but a benefit to the MCU, so I also would love to see him take on this role if not another.
So, with that done, please leave a comment/thumbs up below!
