Fancast: The Incredible Hulk

See my take on the Green Goliath after the jump.

First off, I'd like to say that I wasn't a fan of the first Hulk film. There was no true villain in it, Betty Ross was miscasted, and the design of the Hulk was terrible, The Incredible Hulk was a big improvement for me and Norton was excellent as Banner.CBM User BigEars perfectly pitched how the Hulk should be portrayed: A cross between the Bourne films and District 9. His Hulk cast was fantastic, so check it out when you have the chance.

Anyway, on with the cast:

Heroes:

Lee Pace as Bruce Banner: A brilliant physicist who was bombarded with vast amounts of gamma radiation while saving the life of teenager Rick Jones. Now, whenever Banner gets excited or angry, he transforms into a raging green monster called the Hulk. While as the Hulk, Banner is invulnerable, posses super strength, and can leap long distances.

Reason for Casting: I didn't want to pick an obvious choice for Banner (e.g. Sharlto Copley, Billy Crudup). I decide to go with Pace since he's a talented and underrated actor, his performance in The Fall being excellent. Plus he has this Bill Bixby vibe to him.

As how the should the Hulk be portrayed, I'd like Pace to the the motion capture for the Hulk while Lou Ferrigno supplies the voice.

Michelle Monaghan as Betty Ross: The daughter of General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross and Bruce Banner's love interest. She is one of the few people that can calm the Hulk down.

Reason for Casting: I've realized that this is a somewhat overused pick. However, Monaghan has the talent for the role and is great a playing the sweet, caring girlfriend.

Hunter Parrish as Rick Jones: A teenager who drove onto the beach where a gamma weapon was being tested. Banner was able to save him, but absorbs the radiation that transforms him into the Hulk. Rick's guilt over the incident causes him to stay close to Banner.

Reason for Casting: I've only seen the guy's work on Weeds, I can tell that he's a talented dude , and I think a role like Jones would be a good fit for him.

Jessica Biel or Gina Carano as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk: A highly successful lawyer and cousin of Bruce Banner. After receiving a blood transfusion from Banner, she gain similar abilities to Banner, although she retains her intelligence while she is in her Hulk form.

Reason for Casting: As RoadDogXXIV put it, She Hulk is the "Deadpool of Woman's Lib". She was pretty hard to cast, and it came down to these two. Both have the physical build and the acting chops to play this role.

Villains:

Chris Cooper as General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross: The father of Betty Ross and the head of Bruce Banner's Gamma Weapon project, who shows nothing but contempt for the "weakling" Banner. Ross heads the operation that hunts the Hulk, whom he is obsessed with and wants to personally kill.

Reason for Casting: Cooper is the go-to-guy for strong authority figures. His roles in American Beauty and The Bourne Identity convinced me to cast him as Ross.

Also, I don't want Ross to become the Red Hulk. I just find the idea plain stupid. There is only one colored Hulk, and he is the Green one.

Michael Kelly as Major Glenn Talbot: Betty Ross's ex and an ally to General Ross. He is an active participant in the operation to capture and kill the Hulk.

Reason for Casting: I'm mainly casted Kelly, judging on his performance in Dawn of the Dead. He played an unlikeable prick there and I think he fits in a role like this.

Christopher Meloni as Emil Blonsky/The Abomination: A Russian spy who was exposed to a greater amount of gamma radiation when trying to recreate the accident that turned Bruce Banner into the Hulk. Blomsky turned into a large scaly humanoid and began to call himself the Abomination. Blomsky is stronger and bigger than the Hulk, and retains his intelligence while he is the Abomination.

Reason for Casting: I always felt that Tim Roth wasn't intimidating enough as Blomsky. Meloni has a very intimidating look to him. Judging off his performance as Chris Keller in Oz, I think he could nail this role if he can get the accent down.

Andrew Scott as Samuel Sterns/The Leader: An engineer who, after being exposed to gamma radiation, gain psionic powers and an increased intelligence, at the cost of an oversize cranium. Sterns wishes to use his powers to conquer the world, but has been stopped by the Hulk.

Reason for Casting: I admit that I got this pick from DocHorrible's Hulk cast. However, after seeing his performance as the modern day Professor Moriarty on Sherlock, I can say that he would excel as The Leader.
