How well would "The Civil War" play on screen?

Would a story like this ever make it's way onto the big screen, and if so, how would it be dealt with?

Civil War (As you may know) sticks in our heads more than any Marvel Plot line. From Video Games, to the actual long list of collectible comics themselves, we always seem to love this story.

The mix of sword wielding, laser shooting, web spinning, shield throwing and gamma ray pounding heroes and villains makes us crazy. The combination of so many characters in one story, working so well, got me thinking: How well would "The Civil War" play on the big screen.

The first thought that comes to mind is...No it ain't happening. A damn shame too. I've always loved the concept of the ending of 2012s The Avengers, will hint at this, allowing character from other universes to indulge into all these mishaps.

Something that always comes to mind is all. Discuss my minions!

Spell Check dammit! No, all good.

I'd LOVE to see a Civil War film, but I doubt it will ever happen, mainly due to different studios owning different character rights. Assuming Marvel/Disney had tall the rights back, I think it could be done. You'd have to keep the main characters to a minimum and have a lot of side characters played by a lot of unknown actors to keep costs down. An example (albeit a bad one) would be The LAst Stand. Look at the number of characters that were included in the final battle scene.

I ain't holding my breath though.

Sadly, it wouldnt work on the big screen - the amount of characters and the amount it would cost would be crazy! An animated movie is likely though!

And talking of Civil War, check out my 100 character Civil War cast a few articles under this one! :)

They couldn't make it like the comic exactly. They could do a smaller version though.Using the existing charcters plus some.If they got the rights for Spider-Man that is.

to me peter parker is so ingrained into that story that you could not tell it properly without him. that said - i wouldn't be against switching out his character for another one owned by marvel. but one doesn't come to mind.

beside that point: the civil war could only happen in the marvel comic u. in the movie u we will probably get like 10 or 12 heroes at the most - that would not constitute the SHRA. you wouldn't/don't have untrained hands wielding great power in the movies. something that was essential to the war starting in the comics.

i think thats a good thing too because so many good stories came before civil war - and civil war is such a well done, contemporary tale that i could see them rushing to get that into a film. but it would lose much of it's impact because you wouldn't have time to establish Tony and Steve as best friends.

I think it would be a stretch for the BIG screen, but the small screen...? maybe. I think it'd work well as a HBO miniseries, of course, I don't think the whole "Captain America dies, but is actually just time-traveling" thing wouldn't work for the ending, so I'd simplify it to Steve being shot, falling into a coma, and everyone else being unsure about him ever waking up.

Better Live (of course) than animated!!!!

Yeah HBO, though LOTR'S was supposed to be impossible and they made a trilogy outta it, good work man! ; )
