I never heard of Iron Man before the first ever trailer hit the web. I saw the trailer and I wanted to see it. Nearly a year later, I was sitting at the theater opening weekend watching one of the BEST superhero movies ever. It had the heart, action, little bit of romance, perfect chemistry between the actors. It was sheer brilliance. Here are my thoughts of the first two Iron Man films as we are lead to the third (I'm praying for it to be the final) Iron Man film.
Iron Man
"I am Iron Man"

Iron Man was a stranger to me as well as Robert Downey jr. When I think of Iron Man, I think of RDJ. That's when you know, an actor can act. When the first thing that pops in your mind when you think of them, is them in their most iconic role. This film has a very strong cast, a good director, good screen writers. Just an overall perfect production crew for the film. It was so good, that it took a B list character and shot him straight into an A list character or as I call them, household names. I've never read an Iron Man comic although Extremis seems very interesting (I found it interesting before I heard the third would be based off of it). I honestly don't know a single flaw with this movie. Some of it was cliche, but most of it was pure fun and brilliance. It is the start of not one but two franchises. It was the start of the Iron Man franchise and the start of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It could be considered as one whole franchise, but I like to think of it as two.
Iron Man 2
"You wanna be a war machine?! Take your shot!"

This one is a mixbag as far as who likes it and who doesn't. Quite frankly, I really enjoyed it despite not being able to see it in the theater. Iron Man 2, I wouldn't say it's darker but it is a more serious movie than the first. It's not the typical superhero 2's where the hero has to decide whether to continue to be a hero or have a normal life. Iron Man 2 is Tony trying to keep the world at peace while trying to make sure that the Iron Man weaponry doesn't become a weapon itself for the government to use. Mickey Rourke was good as Ivan Vanko/Whiplash. I'm not a fan of him using the full metal suit. We also see Rhodey finally become War Machine. I was pumped to see it happen but I was disappointed that we got less of him than anticipated. I would've saved him for the third (not paint him as the Iron Patriot). My idea for Iron Man 2 was have Titanium Man be the villain while also throwing in the Demon in a Bottle storyline. Thinking about it now, it would'nt have been as good.
Iron Man 3
This is my 2rd most anticipated movie going into Phase 2, the first being The Avengers 2. The reasons are simple. It's an adaptation of Extremis (for the most part) and the Mandarin is the villain with Ben Kingsley. I've seen a couple of the Lethal Weapon movies and I like them, so I am pretty familiar with Shane Black. I think he can possibly pull it off although I am still a little disappointed that Faverau isn't coming back to direct. Firepower and Coldblood are in the movie too which should make it interesting. I really hope it's the best of the trilogy and I hope it helps make Iron Man one of the best trilogies in the genre. My biggest fear is how the (potential) battle will be between Iron Man and the Mandarin. The only way I can think of them doing it is actually have Mandarin use the 10 rings and also mix it up with some actual fighting. Ghost could have been a cool villain but I think it was a better and more wise choice to use The Mandarin.
Overall: I am really excited for Iron Man 3 overall. I love Iron Man, I really enjoyed Iron Man 2 and I can't wait for Iron Man 3 and the teaser trailer that is arriving in a couple of weeks.
